Read moreWe had such an incredible experience. From the tapas to our main dishes and of course, dessert, my second encounter with Cuban food was absolutely delicious. The staff was so attentive and went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience. The location can definitely accommodate groups, but I think this would be such a romantic dinner date location! If you want to beat the crowd or ensure your entire group gets seated ASAP, 6pm dinner during the weekday is perfect and youâll snag a gorgeous window table with a view of the bay front/New York skyline.
We started off with the El Rumberito which is a delicious and very generous sampler with ham croquettes, corn tamale, beef empanada, corn fritters, stuffed potato and pork bites. (We got too hungry and I forgot to take a picture). My friend ordered a chicken soup and it came in a pretty generous bowl for the price!
My friends love the Ropas Viejas, but I grabbed the Vaca Frita and boy did it not disappoint. My dish was perfect, but make sure you order rice as one of the sides (my mistake for thinking I didnât need more carbs). The star of my dish, however, was the garlic mojo sauce that came with the tostones - chefs kiss!! Easily the star of the night with how perfectly balanced and tangy it is. Definitely helped cut through the richness of the meat and fried plantains. To no surprise, I couldnât finish my food and had to ask for a goodie bag. The staff was also so kind to grab me extra mojo sauce to pack for my leftover tostones!!
I usually donât make it to the dessert round, but my friends recommended the ice cream. Of course, we had to get a âCheesecake the Guayabaâ aka cheesecake with guava set on top which was absolutely divine! You have to try it! No crumbs were wasted during this round and we will forever remember the cheesecake.
If you want a gorgeous view and delicious food, this place will definitely meet your...
Read moreI visited this establishment on the recommendation of my cousin who lives nearby. There were four of us altogether. It was very busy and we were told by the friendly hostesses that it would be a 30 minute wait. No problem. The wait ended up being a bit shorter than anticipated. We were sat at our table and Oscar, our server, came by to take our order. I could see he had his hands full as the place was packed, but he was attentive to his section. We ordered two appetizers. One was a fish ceviche and another was tostones with chorizo. The generous portion of ceviche was honestly the most ordinary ceviche I've ever had in my life. It wasn't good. It wasn't bad. Just blah and uninspiring. The tostones with chorizo was delicious.
We got our entrees promptly especially for such a busy night which was surprising, but all four of us didn't enjoy our meals. Three of the dishes came out barely warm. We all agreed the food was tasteless as if it had no seasoning. Just very disappointing all around. I didn't expect great food, but just not that bad. My Mofongo with cheese was basically inedible. Just a lump of food that tasted like cardboard.I only managed a few bites. I ordered dessert and crossed my fingers. The flan was good. I was happy about that.
All in all, I wouldn't return there to dine. To be fair though, the atmosphere is festive. The prices are very affordable. The busboys were wonderful. Oscar became more and more attentive as his tables left. He really was working hard. There were so many birthday celebrations that night. I basically think that the best thing out of this place is it's professional, friendly and...
