SNAPSHOTS If you get a nice day to play, one of the most scenic courses in America
Greens and fairways play hard and fast
To gain the green at the par 3 17th, you need to conquer a series of mini-canyons
Drive on No. 8 from the championship tees is of black diamond difficulty
Large swale fronting the first green will leave you feeling hollow inside if you don't account for the wind off the ocean on your approach
You might rightfully ask, "Is the wind ever going to be an asset?"
Collection area for short tee shots on the par 3 12th, puts you in the line of fire of shots going out from the hidden 8th tee
The two finishers will take your breath away - and quite possibly your score
Is this the Bandon Dunes of northern California? Or is Bandon Dunes the Ocean Course of Oregon?
Frequency of yardage markers couldn't be better
All of your favorite love / hate / elements / villains of links golf are here -wind, heather, tight lies, gnarly bushes, inopportune bunkers. But the views are all love / love.
Blessed are the drop areas
The fescue bunkers on the front nine immediately introduce you to links golf and the wind will batter you all day

Read moreThe two courses here seem to be very good since the web site says both courses were designed by good golf course designers and champion courses. From the first hole at Ocean Course, we couldn’t believe it because it was something like “What is maintenance? We don’t know the word Maintenance. What is it????” This maybe “Scottish Links style”. I was warned by my friends not to poke around in the rough even if you know where your ball has dropped otherwise you will be attacked by snakes and today even on fairway I remembered their warning. Every fairway was just like the surface of moon and we hopped around to avoid many very deep pitch marks. Also all holes at Ocean courses are designed so dangerous and it was really scary feeling like I will hit other golfers or strollers who are enjoying the ocean scenery. On some holes, fairways are for both ways to go opposite directions and poor players hit their balls to opposite directions side by side. If you are walking without thinking of anything, you will be hit by the golf ball coming from your right front. We decided to quit at hole 9 and it was just enough. Never return here. This course is Public course and charge you for private course but the scenery is good and you can enjoy it just walking around the trail. But watch out the golf balls coming from many directions. No strollers for...
Read moreI just picked up golf recently, only a few months. My fiance took me here to play for my bday. Some friends who have been playing for a few years came along also. Being new to the game my biggest concern was keeping up with the pace of play. I don't like being a burden to players behind me. Especially for an upscale course like this. The pace was great. We never had anyone waiting behind us and we never had to wait behind anyone either. It was great a great day of golf and my score was 133 sadly :(, but I never felt rushed which was really nice. The carts are equipped with GPS so I never had to use my range finder and the GPS also tells you if you are playing a bit slow. We only got notified twice once in the front nine and once on that back nine that we were 3-4 mins behind. If you're playing at pace it doesn't say anything. Everyone was super nice their staff and guest. Bar cart was going around. The snack shop between 9-10 was closed but during this shelter in place it understandable. The greens were excellent and the course was fun and challenging. If you're new to the game don't be too intimidated to play here, but I would recommend having at least a veteran player with you just so you know the etiquette. Otherwise I cannot wait for another chance to play here! We played the...
