Dairy Queen — Restaurant in Hallsville

Been going to this DQ location and have YET to have even decent customer service. There always seems to be an issue. I see the good reviews from the last two weeks and I was confused, but based on my experiences I am starting to draw a conclusion. The daytime staff must be doing a nice job, however, the nightly crew can’t seem to get it together. My fiancé and I go (or at least try to) about 3 nights a week for ice cream. We’ve been experiencing the frustration of everytime we go they saying the ice cream machine is down, some mights this issue will be back to back. The nights we do get to order ice cream, we get rude costumer service. We can’t seem to win. The ice cream is so good however I continuously let it slide because I don’t like leaving bad reviews. Tonight drew the line for us. We pulled up at 9:25, this automative message spoke on the drive through order box saying they were closed. We were puzzled as we saw a group sitting oyrsyfe and all the lights on I shed. We googled the hours, it said closing at 10:00, we pulled up to the window where a piece of paper with hours listed also said closing at 10:00. We look in through the window and a few employees notice us, but try to pretend then don’t and continue about their business. FINALLY two ladies walk over and have to take the security bar off the drive though window because they had already locked if for closing. They stare at us for a few seconds, so we speak first “are y’all open” we get a short response with some more awkward staring “yeah” so my fiancé asked “oh okay well I just didn’t know because yalls intercom back there said y’all were closed” we get told they were about to close (which was in 30 minutes...) they hardly spoke to us they just continued to look at us annoyed until we asked if we could order and got told yes with an eye roll. We placed our order, recieved it and left. We are so so so disappointed. It is starting to look to us that the staff on night shifts simply do not want to stay long past close so they are doing anything possible to close early. Questioning if the ice cream machine was every really down. 🤔 don’t want to stop using this as our late night ice cream location, I do not like sonic or grocery story ice cream. This place is a Joke. I live about 2 minutes from the place so me and my fiancé try to go there a lot for late night snacks. About half the time we go, “The ice cream machine is down”. Idk if that’s true or not from what happened to me tonight. We pull up to the speaker at 9:25 to order (they close at 10pm on Monday). The speaker goes “we’re sorry, we are closed, come back when we are open”. Then I pull up to the window cuz I know their not closed. After about 2 minutes of sitting there 2 ladies finally see us. They come to the window and have to take the security bar off the window which is for closing time, but they are open for another 30 minutes. She said “may I help you”. I asked if they were open, she says yes. Then I asked why the speaker said they were closed cuz I didn’t want to seem rude just coming up to the window without ordering. She said “because we are getting ready to close”. So they have the speaker telling people their closed, and they had the security bar on the window 30 minutes plus before closing time. When I drove off, there was another car behind me that heard the same thing from the speaker so they left. The ladies looked so flustered the whole time. Hallsville DQ has terribly declined. The food was fair this time, but not typical DQ quality. We waited over a half hour to get one meal of chicken strips to go. Meanwhile, one of the girls working in there started moppjng at our table and directly under our feet approximately an hour before closkng time. When we received our meal, the "toast" was just warm bread with butter... not toasted. We also requested honey mustard instead of gravy and still received gravy. When I showed the young ladies who worked there, they decided to laugh. Apparently, they think errors of your order are funny. One young lady named "Shania" that was previously laughing at our valid complaints decided to start cussing at us and threatened to through some ice cream or something at us...yeah, wow...how's that for customer service?? Then, we asked for the manager who just apologized and said that she owed us a meal due to her employee's obnoxious behavior. I would not recommend eating here if it were the only restaurant open in Hallsville. No more DQ for me and my family. We used to eat here approximately 3-4 times a month (especially during football season). They have lost our business forever. ...
