15 Walnut Road — Restaurant in Hamilton

I always enjoyed going to 15 Walnut even though it was a little on the expensive end for me. I used to love the Chicken Quesadilla (sp). But they took it off the menu. I had been spreading the word around town how delicious it was. Then I had to tell the people that hadn't gone in to try it that it was no longer on the menu. Then I tried this eggplant sandwich. It was delicious!! I loved it. Once again, I encouraged people around town to try it. One of my best friends tried it.Word was getting out. I went in with a friend in anticipation and found out after ordering my drink that it was taken off the menu. This time I didn't stay. That was the second time they took my favorite thing off the menu. What restaurant finds a good selling dish and take it off the menu twice? I'm done. We crossed the street and went to The Black Cow. It was packed, had a lot of positive energy and the food was delicious. The manager was pleasant and everything that was on the menu was still on the menu. Moral of the story, if you want a boring atmosphere and a bait and switch restaurant go to 15 Walnut. If you want positive energy, great service and many choices on the menu and we'll throw in more affordable, go to The Black Cow. I'll never walk into 15...

Horrible experience with takeout tonight. Our meal (2 burgers) took 40 minutes to make. That alone would be fine. When we opened the boxes at home the orders were wrong. I called and asked them to FIX and make us the correct order. They agreed and they told me I had to BRING THE WRONG BURGERS BACK?!?!?! Kitchen staff hungry???? In another life I worked in restaurants and couldn’t believe they were asking for the food back. Holy health violations. Meanwhile they fixed our order which took another 30 minutes. I brought the wrong burgers back, now over an hour after I had planned to eat, and asked the manager “just curious why do you want these back? You can’t serve them, so what are you going to do with them?” She (manager) said “I was the one who bagged them, I swear I didn’t put in the wrong ones”. Me:”okay well we can now agree that you did. And you didn’t believe me & that’s why you made me bring these back”. Manager: “ Well...no....I....” I finally get home to eat at 9PM. And guess what....order is wrong AGAIN!!! We ordered well done and they are cooked medium-rare. Now I’m still hungry and too tired to do anything but warn others before going to bed annoyed and hangry.

I've got to be honest, the food is fantastic, but the waitstaff is incredibly unfriendly. I always got the feeling is was bothering them whenever they came over to take my order, or bring the food, or pay the bill, or whatever it was. But the food kind of made up for it. The last time I went though I was served a completely uncooked salmon, which is no big deal, I called the waitress over to let her know, and then she proceed to treat it almost like it was my fault that the salmon was not cooked. Furthermore, she took the uncooked salmon that I had picked apart, and had the cooks just throw it back on the grill as it was, and a few minute later brought it back as just a dry pile of butchered salmon. To make matters worse, she never offered an apology, nor did she ever actually acknowledge that the salmon was completely uncooked in the first place.

So long story short, the food at 15 Walnut is generally very very good, but the waitstaff leaves a lot to be desired and they are unfortunately the reason I will not be returning to 15 Walnut...
