Upon stepping into Post, located in the heart of Hamilton, Massachusetts, one is instantly enveloped by a sense of warmth and conviviality. The restaurant's ambiance merges rustic charm with modern elegance, creating an atmosphere that is both relaxed and refined. The exquisitely contemporary fireplace adds a touch of perfection to the restaurant ambiance.
The menu at Post is a testament to their commitment to providing diners with a gastronomic experience that is both familiar and innovative. The dishes we sampled were well prepared, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor.
Our culinary journey began with two appetizers: Sweet Thai Chili Calamari and Crab Cake. The calamari was expertly cooked - crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and coated in a sauce that perfectly balanced sweet and spicy notes. As someone who isn't typically fond of crab cakes, I was pleasantly surprised. The cake was packed with succulent crab meat and a delicate blend of spices that complemented rather than overpowered the crab. It was so good that I found myself reaching for more, much to my wife's amusement.
For the main course, I opted for the Seared Scallops, which were nothing short of perfection. Each scallop was seared to a beautiful golden brown, yet retained a tender, almost buttery texture on the inside. The accompanying mushroom parsnip risotto was a delightful surprise, rich and creamy, providing a wonderful contrast to the scallops.
My wife ordered the Pork Schnitzel, a dish that was both hearty and comforting. The pork was fried to perfection, maintaining its juiciness while boasting a crisp, golden exterior.
Unfortunately, our dessert, the Fried Apple Cinnamon Ravioli, fell short of our expectations. While the donuts and ice cream were enjoyable, the ravioli was disappointingly tough and difficult to chew.
Despite this minor setback, our overall experience at Post was extremely satisfying. The ambiance, coupled with the delightful dishes, made for a memorable birthday dinner for my wife.
We eagerly look forward to revisiting Post and sampling other dishes from their intriguing menu. The culinary prowess demonstrated by the majority of our meal gives us confidence that we will continue to enjoy dining at Post. This restaurant definitely earns a solid 4 out of 5...
Read moreWe have been here before but only for a cocktail and snack. This was our first dinner.
I’m super happy to have a new place to add to the rotation. Our meals were delicious. I opted for the Steak Frites and he got the Pork Saltimbocca, our son (5) had the chicken quesadilla. We were all really happy with our choices. The steak was cooked perfect (I get medium) it was a nice pink and the flavor packed in each bite was so good. My husband couldn’t stop praising the pork and even said “it’s the best I think I have ever had”…of course I didn’t take offense. My son and I also loved the fries served with our meals, they are like steak fries but way better.
For drinks my husband got his usual martini (and he loves places that make it right…no vermouth!) and I had a black and tan (but with the Cider Donut cider beer from Boston’s own Downeast Cider)…nicknamed the Snakebite or Black Velvet.
The location off Bay Road was adjacent to the train station, so this will be a great meet-up location on my late voyages home when we are too tired to cook. It’s got a great bar (which we visited in the past) and was comfortable with the glow of a cool fireplace in the dining room.
We parked on the side street but there seems to be ample parking all around.
This dinner definitely did not disappoint, and we...
Read moreBeen here before since we live close by but usually left disappointed. My wife received a gift card so we thought we would give it another try. Once again we left disappointed. My wife ordered pizza and it arrived cool. Seeing the unmelted blocks of cheese on top should have been a dead give-a-way. The fries with my fish and chips were less than warm. Spoke with the waitress who was great and took the pizza right back to the kitchen. Shortly later the manager stopped by to apologize. It was difficult to hear him due to the crowd noise but it sounded like he was going to "make things right". Well the pizza did arrive back with melted cheese this time but was not hot by any means. Then 10 minutes later some very hot fries arrived. When the check was presented it was for full price on everything. We made a comment to our waitress that the manager appeared to want to make things right so she went off to speak with him. She returned to say he would comp the one bowl of soup I had ordered. We have had good meals in Newburyport but as for Hamilton, it's crossed off our...
