After posting my review initially, I read some of the other reviews, and I'm getting the impression Hamilton House is under new ownership as of very recently? I called a half hour ago, and I was trying to talk to the woman on the phone to place my order. I had no idea what she was saying. Very hard to understand her.
Tried to give her my address and confirmed it several times. Ordered a chicken kabob sub with lettuce, tomato, onion, feta and Greek dressing.
20 minutes later the delivery driver calls because he can't find Everett lane. Everett Lane?! Not even CLOSE to what I said on the phone. It wasn't the driver's fault. We gave him the correct address and five minutes later he was there, we thanked him and tipped him well.
My sub was dry: lettuce and tomato, no onion, no feta, no Greek dressing. In addition to being dry the quality of the food was not there. Hamilton house's chicken kabob sub used to be DELICIOUS. Lots of perfectly grilled chunks of chicken, shredded lettuce, fresh tomato and onion, and delicious feta and Greek dressing. The food this time was just NOT good.
I LOVED these guys and have been ordering here for decades, but under this new ownership, it seems the quality has really gone down hill. Such a shame. Oh well, nothing...
Read moreDid not know this place was under new ownership until I received my pastrami dinner with no bun, just a piece of tin foil with overcooked burnt pastrami. Called and talked to owner a long time. Now when you order any dinner from here like pastrami or hamburger, you get a "side" of whatever meat you order with no bun. Does that make sense? Thank goodness he fully refunded my money. I tried to tell him that other surrounding places do pastrami dinners or plates like a sandwich and he didn't want to hear it. Then I read a reply to the latest Google review and saw that the owner said that for the past 2 months he has been trying to upgrade the food from the previous owners. I saw 3 ratings, from 3 different websites, of 4.5 out of 5, 4 out of 5, and another 4.5 out of 5. His response does not make sense. The food has always been delicious and the previous owners very friendly, calling in an order was very easy. Now it is difficult because you have to repeat yourself many times, like the person can not understand what you are saying. I will not order from this place again ever, even if offered free food. A pastrami dinner is always a sandwich; same with a hamburger dinner. Prices went up too, which I can understand because of covid, but food quality went...
Read moreI have been out of town for around 2 years, went back to HHOP for a classic favorite of mine (I grew up here). I really wanted to give the new owners the benefit of the doubt, BUT. The place looks like a bomb went off! Sign 1 that we have an issue, but .. OK. I asked a couple of questions and got the dreaded "It's the same!" Dude, you're a new owner, it is not going to be the same, tell me you are better. OK, still gonna bite. Order a sub, pay $15 for a small sub!! OK, inflation... that's cool... tip cash, cuz I do.... order is made incorrectly... OK, NBD, I'm not gonna make too big of a deal and just ask for what I need to basically get what I asked for. But the quality of the ingredients is not to par, not was the preparation. It makes me sad to see a place I loved for my whole life fall like that but... CHANGE THE NAME AND DON'T SAY IT IS THE SAME!!
I'm sure the "rice bowls and quesadillas" are great, but please don't act like you do what they used to. That was the biggest turn off, other than the inside of the restaurant being a disaster. Forge your own path, don't make a mockery of what was there.
Only giving 2 stars because...
