True Score- 2.8/5 Stars After a tough week, and moving back to Hamilton, we decided to order some Asian style cuisine. Asian Lantern is a small, yet awesome restaurant. Unfortunately, for me, the food just wasn’t as good as the building. (Forgot to take pics so sorry for the bad one attached) I ordered the General Tso’s combo with white rice, and my fiancè ordered the Orange chicken combo, but subbed the rice for lo mein noodles. Both orders of chicken suffered the same- just not enough flavor. The chicken itself is cooked VERY well, and is meaty and tender. The breading is also firm and hardly with any bristle. The problem is, the sauce just wasn’t flavorful on each dish. The flavor was too faint for us. The lo mein noodles were also very bland, and pretty dry. The combos with the lo mein substitute and a can of dr pepper ran me about 21 dollars on takeout, so no tax. I’m all for supporting a local business, but the food just did not justify the price. Although, I don’t think the pricing is absurd or anything. Service was great. The guy working the register was very sociable and my food was packaged very, very neatly. Facilities are the best part. Ample seating, and LOOKED clean. I got takeout, so I am not certain. Also, the sign says you can BYOB, so thats dope. I think coming here on a weeknight with some buddies to sit and hang would be ideal. Overall, pretty average. Wasn’t blown away, but I would definitely give it another shot. I would describe the food as serviceable, and it really has potential to be a great little restaurant. Support small businesses, people! NOTE: Star rating based on my own formula consisting of flavor, cost, facilities, service, and overall satisfaction. Reviews are subject to change based on future visits.

First visit after reading a lot of positive reviews. I was craving beef with broccoli. Ordered lunch portion and since I don't eat a lot, plenty leftover to take home. The broccoli was cooked perfectly. I would have liked a bit more "gravy." My friend ordered shrimp chow mein, altho I believe she really wanted shrimp lo mein. She loved it even tho the chow mein was served with dry noodles instead of wet. The parking lot is hard for me as I am mobility challenged, and use a cane due to poor balance. I'm sure paving would be a big expense, but it would make the restaurant more accessible. The only other negative I will cite is the carpet in the restaurant. It is far beyond it's lifespan and needs to be replaced. Again, another big expense, and I know these are tough times. We were the first customers of the day, and only one other person came in for a carry-out order during the time we were there. I think advertisement may be needed. Perhaps some coupons or specials posted outside? The woman who greeted and seated us was smiling and very pleasant. The young man, whom I believe was the son of the woman, was not nearly as outgoing or pleasant. I got the feeling he would rather be doing anything else. Our food was good and plentiful, and the pricing was fair by the current standards.

I used to go here when I lived in the area over 30 years ago. I just moved back to the area and I'm delighted that they're still here and still just as good. Had dinner there with my husband tonight and it was delightful! I had hot tea, chicken and rice soup, and the moo goo gai pan combination plate with fried rice and egg roll. My husband had the chicken and noodle soup and chicken fried rice. I loved the atmosphere with the soft Asian music in the background. They also give you orange slices for dessert. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and I'll definitely be back for more!

I regularly ordered carry-out from the Asian Lantern, but no longer believe I will be doing so. This evening I ordered dinner and upon arriving home I realized the order was incorrect. I immediately called the Asian Lantern and spoke with a woman. She said I could return the white rice in exchange for fried rice, but I couldn’t have the egg roll because it didn’t come with the large portion. (I didn’t order the large portion.)dinner. When I arrived home I realized that I did not receive the fried rice or egg roll. I called the restaurant and spoke with a.woman who indicated I could exchange white rice for the fried rice, but I could not have the egg roll because it did not come with the large dinner-albeit I did not order the large dinner. I told her I would just eat what they provided as it’s more of a problem to go out again for just the rice. I told her I have other choices for Chinese food and will go down the street from now on. Regarding the food, it was bland and contained way too many peanuts. I could not take a bite of the veggies without 5-6 peanuts accompanying each bite. The flavor really was very mediocre. The bottom line is that the order was filled improperly and it would have been a better business decision to apologize, fulfill the order including the egg roll, and hit would have cost much less than...
