I don’t often leave reviews, but this is very deserving I often drive down highway 281 heading from FTW area to hill country. There are several little towns you will pass through. This review is about a small little newly established hamburger place called Woodys. Do not confuse this one as a sister, brother or family member to the Mineral Wells staple.
As I arrive, I see the clean freshly painted building and plenty of cars outside for a Thursday around 1:30.
I arrive and was pleasantly greeted by a staff member behind the counter.
Warm and friendly greeting. A local Hamiltonite. Explained story about how they are not second location to Mineral Wells but sheriff was named Woody. Sheriff Woody lived behind hamburger place and his wife cooked nightly for the inmates. There is also a family tie to Lee Harvey. Great history surrounding the town and location.
Menu is not extensive and does not need to be. You must try of the hamburger. I ordered it all the way. Most do.
They had 2 full size drink coolers to get your tasty beverage for your meal.
Burger came to me about 10 minutes after ordering. Fresh, hot and extra tasty!!
I must say as a burger fan (aren’t we all) they are right up there as one of the best I have had in years.
Meat was not premade frozen patty but a freshly smashed meat burger with slight Smokey favors. Cheese was melted just right with shredded lettuce.
Being that I was hungry, I had two bites before taking my picture.
Fries we hot and flavorful.
I always love trying new places. Especially in support of small towns and establishments.
I can easily say I would drive 1.5 hours one way for this burger and experience.
Walls have pictures, beer signs and plenty of historic pages to read over.
Support these local small family owned places. They are what make America and roadside restaurants special.
Do not just my word for it, try it yourself. You will see it’s a hidden gem not too terribly far away.
Thanks Woodys !!! I’ll be by ever single...
Read moreStopped in on our way home from Hico, had high hopes. My husband's food was just fine, but a little too saucy. Mine however not so much. I ordered a double cheeseburger burger with only extra pickles, but what I received though was a burger covered top and bottom with the same sauce so saturated both were nearly mush. As a person who dislikes most condiments the sauce was vile so I ended up scraping it off and only able to salvage the meat. Leaving my dinner consisted of 2 very well done burger patties and fries. Not a fan of the booty shorts poster girls, watching us eat but pictures of Danny McBride suggest the decor style is supposed to be redneck chic. The employee at the counter was annoyed when we came in despite us coming in an hour before closing. She even decided to start sweeping all around our table while we attempted to eat. Love supporting small businesses but this one left a bad taste...
Read moreIf you like smash burgers, you'll love this place. We were passing through and on a whim, decided to give it a try. My wife, son and i all got smash burgers and i added bacon and jalapeno. We all agreed, they were great and we're all burger snobs. If you're not familiar with smash burgers, they are cooked on grills in a ball and the patty is "smashed" flat. Where some places make mistakes is that they fail to smash the buns. This places smashes them as well. So you get a crispy toasted bun, thin, crispy patty and diced up veggies; just like smash burgers were meant to be. If you're hungry, I'd suggest two patties. Prices were good and service was quick. Id give this place a solid 9/10. If they had home cut fries, this place would be a solid 10/10 and I've only rated two places in Texas that high. This place has great burgers.. HIGHLY...
