Royale Crown Homemade Ice Cream and Grille — Restaurant in Hammonton

I saw a list online of “The best cheesesteaks in NJ” and Royale Crown was listed, this was my family’s FIRST time trying the food here. It was terrible. We ordered take out and got three cheesesteaks and one chicken cheesesteak. The sandwiches were dry, flavorless, and the cheese was just drooped on top of the sandwich and hard as a rock. Our sandwiches were so dry that a pile of sawdust on a roll would’ve been easier to eat. The customer service was awful, I walked inside and went to the counter. Three girls working and it took all three of them to scoop two ice cream cones for the couple ahead of me. When the three girls finally came to the counter all three of them cashed out the couple and walked away when I moved up, the girls working acted like I wasn’t at the counter two feet away from them!! And why does it take a team of three people to handle one transaction??? The girls working wouldn’t look at me or talk to me. I was the only customer there and after 10 minutes of waiting to be greeted I had to wave down one of the employees, who was standing there doing nothing, to let her know I was there to pick up my order. I visit Royal Crown once a year in July when visiting family. Normally our visit is a pleasent one; but today turned me off from this place permanently. We got our ice cream, and was enjoying it, when suddenly I felt something metallic in my mouth. Fortunately I did not swallow it, because when I spat the object out, I discovered that it was a small washer. I brought the ice cream and washer up to the counter and told the person who served me what happened. Her response was, "oh I'll get you another one." No apology of any kind!! I told her that I didn't want another one, I want a refund. She asked for the washer so she can show it to her boss. Moments later her supervisor comes out and informs me that they do not have any washer like the one that was supposedly in my ice cream anywhere in his shop. It was obvious to me that he did not believe a word i was saying. Trying to remain calm and not cause a scene, I told him that I have no reason to lie about something potentially dangerous like this. After several minutes of going back and forth with this unprofessional so called "supervisor," I received from him, a full refund without an apology. First thing I notice when I walked in, was an odd smell. I don't know how to describe it. The line was only 3 people long when my mother got in line but she somehow ended up waiting close to 10 minutes for our order to be taken. The food was really pricey. When the food finally arrived, there were no condiments on the tables. Upon asking for some, we had to ask 2 different people to get some ketchup and mustard. Then, we had to wait 3 minutes. This doesn't sound long, but when your food is getting cold and you can see the condiments behind the counter, it's annoying. My burger and my mother's hot dog tasted freshly frozen. We didn't even bother getting dessert.

When asking to go to the bathroom, we were handed a key and told that it was around the corner. The bathroom wasn't on the inside. I jad to circle the building a few times before finding it because it wasnt labeled and it looks like a closet. Inside, it was smelly. The sink didnt have running water, just a light drip.

Overall, negative experience. Id recommend the Wendy's down the street. Thats where we...
