I usually have a decent experience when I come here to eat, however today I decided to order online to get some food, and I was told my that food would be finished at 12:37 which was wonderful being that I go on my work break at 12:30. I got there and the doors were locked, and one of the employees saw me trying to open the door and had came to the door explaining that they were closed. Online it says that the place was open and they had already charged my card for the meal so I explained that to the girl and then she said she will have my food ready in 20 minutes mind you, I’m on break but I’m hungry so I said okay, so I come back to get my food and there’s a crowd of people outside who have placed orders waiting to get their food as well. As well as an Virginia Natural Gas worker, attempting to give them their past due bill. The owner finally comes to the door and lets everyone inside after 5 more minutes of me waiting, there was glass scattered all over the floor and a whole red velvet cake that appeared to be thrown on the floor as well. The place was trashed. The owner was so stressed to the point that she was in tears, I finally got my food and my fried whiting was soggy and disgusting, my Mac and cheese tasted very old the only thing that was edible was my green beans. this place has had a good run but I believe it needs to be closed for good. If you want good Jamaican food and nice service go to SUNSPLASH right across the street because jerk sauce is not the...
Read moreI normally don't judge a place until I've given it two tries and I've just done that with this place. I can now say without a shadow a doubt that this is one of the worst spots in all of Hampton. The food is actually pretty decent but everything else is sub standard compared to their competition. The first time I ordered delivery, when the food arrived one of the entrees was missing and the food was packaged as if done by an airline baggage handler. I didn't get mad, I just ate the food and kept it moving. This time seals the deal though. This time not only was my food missing yet another entree but it was cold AND both boxes were swimming in about 5 ounces of juice. The boxes weren't taped or double bagged or wrapped like any other restaurant who cares about that kind of thing. This time I had to call, not to demand my missing food or a comp but to make sure the missing entree was removed from my bill. The cashier who answered the phone was the worst. First she acted as if this was my fault somehow and the more I explained, the more it became clear that she couldn't care less. It was as if I was interrupting HER dinner and not the other way around. In the end, I remained polite and got off the phone but I will never spend my money here again. I normally don't even write reviews but I figure if this can save just one person from the kind of hassle that I just experienced, then it's well worth the time...
Read moreThe plantains tasted a couple days old could not finish them. The cabbage taste soupy and mushy. The oxtails and atmosphere were on point but that was it. It seemed like it was family ran and you can tell it too. The kid that serves you acts as if he doesn't want to be there, almost forced to be there. The tall guy who walks back and forth into the kitchen (with bags from Foodlion) don't give a crap about the customers sitting in the dining area; his customer service skills is on zero! And the poor mom or cook is doing so much in the kitchen trying to keep things right and you can tell she got her whole soul invested in that place trying to make it happen. If they can keep the little boy out of the dining area (lack of child care) and change the attitudes up front it would probably have more traffic. It was my first and last time there, no second chances for shotty services and "MEHHH"...
