This place was absolutely wonderful! Quick backstory, I'm from Houston, TX so mexican food is something I have a lot of exposure to and experience with. So when a local recommend this restaurant to me I was a little skeptical to say the least. But wow... This place is better than most mexican food restaurants I've been to in Texas. Hands down in my top 5 now.
Firstly value, you usually get your money's worth at mexican restaurants but I would say even more so here. My GF got chicken fajitas for one and this would easy be a for two platter elsewhere and double the cost! They also served huge margarita that were fresh made! I didn't see a marg machine and when we asked for a frozen Marg we watched the bartender make it fresh in a blender!
Secondly taste, I got the seafood enchiladas and it was fantastic! Three enchiladas filled with scallops and shrimp cooked to perfection and covered in a delicious white sauce (back on that value again)! Their spanish rice was rich with stock flavors and was delectable. The chicken in the fajitas was slightly dry but the onions and peppers were delicious and saved it imo. The chips salsa was yummy and fairly mild (I prefer a spicy salsa but I understand having a mild one standard) but there was this white sauce that I have no clue what it was. It was rich and sweet kind of like an aoli salsa? Either way it was yummy and different so I liked it. Also did I mention the Margs were fresh made and delicious?
Thirdly staff, our waiter was very attentive and made sure to keep the drinks flowing and our waters filled. But this alone doesn't warrant writing about it. What warrants it is that we were visited by not only our waiter. But the bartender came by to make sure things were good and our drinks were correct also the hostess would stop by to make sure everything was good. It seemed like everyone wanted to make sure we were catered for and taken care of. This alone is worthy of a 5/5 rating in my book.
At the end of it all I am very happy that we were recommended this place and if I'm every back in Hampton I'll make sure...
Read moreThe first time I came here, I ordered to go and the host had an attitude because I was asking to make slight change to the order. I wanted two kinds of meat in my burrito and knew it would cost extra and was okay with that, but when asking if it came with salad (which it should, most do), it seemed to rub the girl the wrong way that I mentioned that adding another $4 extra for just some lettuce and a slice of tomato didnât seem right, but I did it anyway. The food was alright. Working nearby meant it was the closest mexican restaurant so I decided to give it another shot and dine in for lunch. So today, I decide to sit down and arrive just a minute before 3 but ASKED if by chance they could still accept an order from the lunch menu and the host said YES. I sit down and proceed to look at the menu and when they come to take my order I ask if I can do one of the burritos with chicken AND steak and then the server who was the host last time (?) tells me that I have to order from dinner now. Even though they told me I could order from lunch when I came in. I could see the petty attitude on her face and decided to leave the restaurant. I will no longer be dining here. And quite frankly, as someone who travels a lot and has tried Mexican food all over the US⊠Iâve had WAY better. Itâs nothing special. Just an empty, bottom shelf âMezcalâ.
Suggestion: Giving the option of rice or beans as sides for lunch is petty and cheap. Just offer both and adjust your prices...
Read moreWe often go to Mezcal when weâre craving Mexican food in the area, and it has become one of our favorite spots. The food is consistently excellent flavorful, well-seasoned, and served fresh. During our last visit, we ordered the steak with chorizo and chorizo quesadillas, and both were outstanding. The steak was juicy and cooked perfectly, while the quesadillas had the ideal balance of cheese and crispiness without feeling greasy. One dish we totally recommend is the California Fries theyâre packed with flavor, generously portioned, and easily one of the best items on the menu.
What also makes Mezcal stand out is the service, which is probably the fastest weâve ever experienced at a sit-down restaurant that isnât fast food. The staff is efficient, friendly, and attentive without hovering, making every visit smooth and enjoyable. The prices are very reasonable, and their daily lunch specials offer great value for both quality and portion size. If youâre looking for authentic flavors, quick service, and a welcoming atmosphere, Mezcal never disappoints. And if youâre vegetarian, they also have veggie options if you dont like meat. Also they are able to change anything on the dish. Like add chicken or change the meat. Also replace things like take of the beans and...
