Sweet Palette Bakery — Restaurant in Hanford

Called on 6/14 to place a pre-paid order for pick up on 6/16. Was told by the girl who took my payment that I could pick up my order before business hours as someone would be at the store. Arrived at 7am, which was my requested pick up time. No one was at the store, and no one answered the phone. Decided to wait until the 8am, which was the listed business hours…no one to open the door or answer the phone. Finally, after waiting until 830am, I decided to leave and head to work, which I was now late for.

I called multiple times throughout the day and finally at 1130am, the female owner answered the phone. I explained my situation, to which her reply was, “We were really busy yesterday. They shouldn’t have taken the order because we were tired”. She asked if I wanted to pick up my order, to which I declined and asked for a refund. She said they were going to be opening at 1230pm that day, so I decided to head to the store for my refund. Store was once again closed. I later saw on Facebook that they had not even opened that day. No sign on the door, just what was posted on their business Facebook story.

On Wednesday, 6/18, I stopped by the store at 8am to attempt to get my refund. Closed again. The female owner walked out of the store and another patron asked if they were opening to which the owner said no because they were short handed. We informed the owner of the inconvenience of the inconsistent business hours to which she replied “we’re a small business and we open when we can. We have busy lives and can’t help it when employees call out”. The utter disregard for customers (or potential customers) is irresponsible, disrespectful, and bad for business.

I typically support small businesses in Hanford, but I will no longer be supporting this one. If they don’t respect my time and patronage, I will take it elsewhere. I will gladly choose Off the Vine for lunch, and La Tapatia for...

Ordered a Red Velvet birthday cake for my wife. New to the area so only ordered 24 hrs prior but they made it happen! The cake itself tasted amazing, icing, unbelievable but there were a couple issues..

1. the cake was kinda hard as if it was old
2. I don’t know if one of the layers of the cake wasn’t even or what but the two top layers slid completely off the base.

I had the cake sitting completely level in the car so I don’t know if I took a turn too hard or if the cake was slightly unlevel but that was a bummer to see when I opened it up at home.

At the end of the day, the cake was 10/10 flavor wise and I appreciate the shop making it happen on such...

Truly unfortunate when customers cannot count on this business!!! Over the years the "lack of accountability" has gotten greater!!! Customers place orders and paying for them then to have closed doors at pickup. Very poor business ethics!!! NOT how you run a business small or large. As a longtime customer I'm done. After yesterday (6/18/25) planning on a purchase yet once again they aren't open. Not following advertised stated hours, not having stock, not being open... hit & miss. Customers want to count on a business NOT hear excuses!!! If Hanford had a real bakery this business would have even...
