La Fogata Mexican Cuisine — Restaurant in Hanover Township

I ordered a beef caldo, and the experience was disappointing and concerning. The soup seemed old, and when I bit into a corn cob, it was spoiled. I asked the waiter how old the soup was, and she checked with the cook. Instead of answering, he insisted the soup was fine and dismissed my concerns. He even raised his voice, telling me to calm down when I explained what I had noticed.

The cook eventually admitted the corn might have been bad because it was frozen. I explained that it’s his responsibility to either not serve spoiled ingredients or make a fresh batch. His solution was to tell the waiter to offer a small discount, but I told him he should not charge for the spoiled soup and instead offer a different dish, which I was willing to pay for. He continued escalating the conversation, so I simply tipped the waiter and left.

I’ve been a loyal customer for years, but the lead chef (a short, stocky man who appeared to be in charge) was dismissive and unprofessional. He showed no care for food quality or customer concerns, even when the food was clearly not safe to serve. I will be reporting this to the Department of Public Health. Be cautious about the food...

Service is horrible. They did not ask if dine in or carry out. Packed our food even though we sat at the table and were ready to dine in. I told the woman by the register that this is a dine in order, she seemed very unhappy and in a mean voice said “oh, it’s carry out only.” I said that we did not ask for a carry out and no one told us that it is carry out. Again, with a mean voice she asked “ so you want the food on the plates?” Finally food was brought to our table. I went to the counter to ask for hot sauce, this woman ( with a star on her forehead) was standing backwards. When I started asking, she didn’t even turn around or answered. Another woman that was in the kitchen grabbed the sauce and handed it to me. As we were leaving, no one even said anything, like in a normal restaurant “thank you for coming”, thank you, have a good night”. Not a word. Food was way below average, nothing special. If I cld give no stars I would! Just went out to eat here tonight. NEVER AGAIN!!! Been going here since they opened. Tonight when we get there we see a waitress "cleaning" tables with a DRY rag which she used without cleaning it from table to table. Essentially she was dusting the tables. She then went to wait on tables without even washing her hands and just left the rag on one of the tables. She brought me my coke "carefully placed" in her ARMPIT! As we began to eat our chips and salsa we noticed someone elses chips broken off in the bottom of our re-used salsa. The carrots and peppers were also re-used. Yes we left before eating any more. I wont be back and intend on contacting the health department. This is what happens when people do not have a sanitation certificate or proper training.
