You wouldnt think much by its outward appearance but, as the old saying goes, "dont judge a book by its cover". My husband & I were visiting Mohican Adventure for the day for his birthday & our 5th wedding anniversary (it's on the same day :] ) and I had googled restraunts nearby the day before. I found this little gem & had seen what lovely reviews it had. My husband and I dont like to goto the bigger places and always try to find the "mom & pops" or "whole in the wall" type places because those are usually where you find the most passionate people who really love what they do & want to serve home cooked type food. So glad we did! I didnt catch our sweet waitresses name, unfortunately. She had dark hair put up, glasses, and just as sweet as could be! She always made sure our drinks were full, was thorough with taking our order and making sure it was to our liking, even giving us suggestions when we wasnt sure. Which I felt like it was very helpful. As a "foodie" , one thing I have learned is- the smaller the menu, the better/fresher the food! And it's always been true. Delicious, huge, fresh cheeseburgers on grilled buns with all the toppings! Freshly made onion rings that werent greasy as well (a lot of places make them so oily) and delicious! We joked around about it being his birthday and our anniversary and that it would be funny if I told them to sing happy birthday to him cause he hates it. Haha! Our amazing waitress went and got the COOK and another waitress and sung to him even though they dont normally do that! And they were so funny and kind about it, it really made it such a great experience!! Also, the prices! The prices are SO affordable! We were on a strict vacation budget so it was so nice to find a place that didnt over charge you. We was even able to get 2 scoops of their HANDMADE ice cream (mint chocolate chip) each, and my husband got a piece of their to-die-for, homemade crust & all, coconut cream pie. He said out of all the desserts he has eaten that it was the best coconut cream pie ever! The ice cream was so creamy and delicious! Our whole meal plus drinks and sides with desserts was only $25! Thats an amazing deal for such yummy food! I really didnt plan on writing so much but I hope others find this wonderful place with such nice staff and give it a try! Just because it doesnt look fancy doesnt mean it's not QUALITY dining! Thanks for making our trip so much fun and giving us a great memory. When we come back next year with our kids, we...
Read moreWe were a party of 9. Thought this would be a great local diner to grab breakfast before we headed home from our weekend. Pretty sure we interacted with the owner.
1st there were two separate tables of 4 and plenty of space to push them together to accommodate us. However, the owner said this could not be done so we sat 5 at one and 4 at the other. Pushing them together would not have blocked the walk way. Honestly she acted like us being there was an inconvenience. The food was okay but it wasn't great. I got the Sunday special. My biscuit was cold, the sausage gravy wasn't seasoned well. My eggs were cooked perfect and the hashbrowns were good too.
Our waitress was wonderful (not the owner). The food didn't take long to come out.
Another group of 9 came in and was told they didn't have room because a table was reserved that we never saw cleaned or cleared while we were there. It had dirty plates on it. Again leading me to believe they don't like to accommodate large parties.
I know that if we come back to visit, we will not eat here again. I hate leaving bad reviews but after realizing the owner was who we interacted with and her poor attitude I had to leave the review.
I would avoid this restaurant. Especially if from...
Read moreI was not really impressed. They food was inexpensive but the quality matched the price. I would rather pay a little more to get good food. The server was nice but not very attentive. And there was no one there. So it didn’t make a lot of sense. But I’m pretty understanding about that. That wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me. I think the lack of care about the food is what will deter me from returning. Just some oregano would’ve make the chicken parm better. It was the generic frozen chicken Pattie’s the lunch ladies use to serve us in school. And the salad was lettuce only. The coney dog was so small my teenager left hungry. It was a generic and tiny hotdog. I understand wanting to save money and charge less. But I think you can still serve food that has some love in it. I might return to try a burger. But even the picture showed undercooked fries. And there was a gentleman working there that was rude to my son when he went looking for the server. That really is what made me want to write a review. Again. I didn’t stiff the server. Not her fault. But I think a mom and pop place should make you feel...
