The worst dining experience I’ve ever had — and I’m normally easy to please.
We went to Harrison’s Speakeasy with a group of six and had what I can only describe as an incredibly disappointing and frustrating night. It started with us being seated at 9 PM and handed plastic menus with no actual menu inserts inside. Not a big deal on its own, but sadly it was a warning of things to come.
It took 20 minutes before a server even greeted us. We let him know the menus were blank, and he brought replacements. We ordered drinks and a few appetizers — six drinks, two fries, and a salad. The restaurant wasn’t busy, and yet we waited 30 minutes to get five of the six drinks. Another 20 minutes went by before the final drink arrived — almost 50 minutes for a single cocktail with no apology.
Meanwhile, our appetizers — which should’ve been quick — took 40 minutes, and when they arrived, the fries were cold and hard. The salad sat untouched because no silverware was provided. It took another 15 minutes just to get forks. At that point, I told the server the fries were inedible and the salad had been sitting untouched. To his credit, he quickly brought fresh fries within 5 minutes — a stark contrast to how long everything else took.
When we finally placed food orders, another 30 minutes passed before we were told they were out of the beef tips we ordered. That was the last straw for some in our group who chose not to eat anything.
The lack of urgency, the poor service, the cold food, the missing items, and worst of all, the complete absence of any acknowledgment or apology was unacceptable.
Even after all that, I gave the restaurant a chance to make it right. I called on Monday and spoke with a bartender who was very kind and took down my experience in detail, promising the owner would call me. I never got a call back.
I followed up again on Thursday — different staff, same promise: the owner had “just left,” but they’d make sure she got my message. Again, no call. It’s now been over a week and a half, and despite two detailed messages and follow-ups, the owner has never reached out.
At this point, it’s clear that the poor service isn’t just a staff issue — it’s a leadership issue. An owner who genuinely cares would have returned a customer’s call after multiple attempts and detailed feedback. Sadly, that didn’t happen.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was truly a shameful example of how not to run a business. With all the other negative reviews about poor service, I now understand it’s not just bad luck — it’s a pattern. And clearly, nothing is being...
Read moreGet ready, this is a long read... ok, so for dinner tonight my husband and I went to Harrisons Speakeasy in Harrison Twp. I should have known what kind of evening it would be by the way the front door swang out into the bar instead of into the lobby...so we sat outside which was actually really cool, we had the worst waiter on the planet (but was very nice and super young so i let that part slide) who took our drink order and when i ordered the signature "Bathtub" drink was told that they didnt have the "Bathtub" but i could have my drink served in a "Towilet"🤔 so that was a hard pass from me, so i ordered the French Martini instead in which i was told the vodka was "Valentine" and trust you me when i tell you it was definitely NOT Valentine vodka, it was 5 O'clock at best My husband ordered the Cherry Old Fashion which was good. Then we got the White Fish Pate which was good but would have been better if we actually had utensils and a napkin🤦♀️ we then ordered the Artesian Chicken sandwich which was suppose to have grilled chicken breast, shaved Prosciutto, Aurgula and Apricot whipped goat cheese on a Brociche bun but instead we recieved a DRY chicken sandwich with SPRING MIX, No Apricot goat cheese and THICK, TOUGH AS NAILS PROSCIUTTO sandwich. We asked the Hostess TWICE to speak to the manager in which the manager never came to our table! So I decided to drink my dinner and ordered a second French Martini and it came to the table looking a little BLONDE! They forgot to put the Chambord in the DRINK!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PEOPLE WE COULDNT RUN OUT OF THAT PLACE QUICK ENOUGH!! The only good part was the Truffle fries! So after we OVER PAID for the bill we left and went to Testa Barra where we ABSOULTLEY KNOW OUR FOOD AND DRINKS WILL FOREVER AND ALWAYS BE ON POINT!!!!!❤️ Bottom line.....Harrisons Speakeasy has a very cool concept but is ultimately an epic FAIL!! The silver lining to this story is, while at Testa Barra, i was telling Jeff Baldwin Jr about our experience tonight and he unexpectedly brought out a LAVA CAKE desert for us to enjoy and said in his words "Turn your frown upside down"! Now THAT is how it is done!! Ty Jeff!! We...
Read moreFood was great, service was kinda bad. Place was packed, reservation we made for 8 was not kept, there was a large party in there when we arrived and I'm sure that had something to do with our reservation that wasn't met, but they should have never offered to make one if they knew they had large parties in there. waited an hour to be seated, waited 30 min after that for drinks, 2 waitress for the entire place. All they had to do was say hey, we're sorry, we are short staffed, or atleast recognize the issue and say something to us about it. Instead, we sat there with empty glasses waiting to spot our server. Super loud in there too, they need acoustical sound panels on the ceiling, they did comp our first drinks and offered free desert at the end, we would have just preferred a regular dining experience as opposed to free anything. We were there for a total of 3 hours, which is absolutely crazy for a nice dinner out, they had a huge patio that looked nice, but was closed because of the weather, and I can only think that if it was open, service would have been even slower. Maybe they had staff call in sick. Or whatever the issue was, they needed more help, and in situations like that, send the manager around to check in on tables and keep them informed and feeling positive about the experience. Also. They automatically include gratuity on the bill for parties over 6 which is fine if the service is great, but when it's not good and they take what they want in tips, it felt like it wasn't deserved. Probably won't go back, many other options out there. Bummer, cause the food was really good. I will mention that our waitress was very nice, but definitely overworked last night. They needed 2 more...
