Having the privilege and love of the road has brought me to over 40 states. While I crave the bragging rights of a few passport stamps, finding unforgettable eateries has become a welcomed challenge. Moseying on into to NY By The Slice today took me by complete surprise. Whilst majority of authentic Italiano ristorante’s don’t gaggle over their decorative decisions, their food is precise, delicious, well executed and prevalent in mouthwatering authenticity. Of course I ordered a few classic dishes, which include their salad with house creamy Italian dressing. I absolutely inhaled before taking a photo shoot with unfortunately. The dressing was robust, creamy, with a slight citrusy note that complimented the crisp texture of the salad. Next to dazzle my tastes and dance across my eager palate, was my “pizza by the slice”. I was wowed by the juiciness of the fresh toppings used on their veggie option. I opted out of the banana & jalapeño peppers, but truly appreciated this slice of pie. The sauce had definitive notes of basil, very pronounced but welcomed aromatics of garlic, and a perfectly executed crust. The pie did not become soggy or wet from the sauce after eating and cooling down. The mozzarella factor on this slice was a cheese pull of epic proportions! Anddd incoming! Here rests my chicken Marsala take: Pure Amore. The Marsala sauce was so delicately sweet & symphonic! Ah, with its distinctive flavors of woody, yet hinted sun dried fruit were encapsulated in the nuance of honey and garlicky appeal. The glorious and extra generous portion of angel hair pasta graced my plate in a most grandiose presentation. The style of this dish was unique with its use of caramelized onions & 3 huge pieces of chicken breast. There was so many happy tastebuds in my mouth today. I absolutely recommend you try! Their bread loaf is house made and was prolific. This place is pure Italian nostalgia, and all less than $15 a plate. I’m already hungry again for more. I will be back again soon to explore the menu...
Read moreWOW, Where to start...... first is NOT New York Style Pizza, it's South Carolina style. I'm from NY so there's no fooling me. Now the real issues. The "cook" changed the AC filters that are directly over the silverware, plates, pizza pans, and the place they cut the cooked pizza. Dust and even liquid dropping and dripping on things like the silverware, plates, pizza pans, and that place they cut the pizza. He used a kitchen knife to pop the hatch open on the second one, and the first one, he pulled that filter out and it looked like Big Foot's back it was so brown and fuzzy. They did this with customers in view of it all. The "cook" and I use that term loosely, cleaned stuff up and took trash out then came back inside and went right back to making food, no washing his hands, no gloves. As a matter of fact The only pair of gloves I saw anyone wearing was the dish washer. This place is a health department catastrophy at best. Hey New York by the Slice, go to Bisonte' Pizza in Matthew's or Charlotte and find out what real pizza is like. Finally EVERYONE in the place is wearing a T-shirt that says they are Italian, I didn't see not one Italian in the place. Now that only matters because they seem to have some fake pride in being Italian and making Italian food. Also EXPENSIVE for the quality of the food and the less than entertaining antics of the people that work there. The ONLY plus was that the waitress...
Read moreI called and placed an order for pick up a few days ago. This was my first time ordering from this restaurant. I ordered a medium pepperoni pizza. Prior to placing the order I was asked if I wanted a small, medium, or large. I asked how big the medium pizza. I was told she wasn’t sure, but she would check. After a minute or so, she stated a medium pizza was 16”. I went ahead and placed the order. After picking up the order and getting home, I noticed the pizza seemed a lot smaller than expected, so I measured the pizza and it was 12” on the dot. Thinking I might have been told the wrong size or possibly given the wrong size, I called back and once again asked how big a medium pizza was. I was once again told it was 16”, but she went to check again. This time I was told they can guarantee the exact size (understandable), but medium pizzas should be around 14” inches, not the 16” I was told twice before. I informed the lady I spoke with that the pizza I received was only 12” which is clearly not what I was told. After telling the lady this, the only response I got was silence. No effort to try and correct the problem, offer to make a new pizza, offer to issue a refund…nothing. The pizza was good, I will admit that; however, if ordering pizza, definitely make sure you get the right size...
