We were not expecting to find anything open, much less such a great barbecue place on the grounds of the Renaissance Fair. The turkey was excellent. The pulled pork was a little dry, but quite tasty, and easily remedied with barbecue sauce. I recommend mixing the Roadhouse Hot with the Roadhouse Blues, but all of the sauces were good. Prices were pretty much what you should expect for decent barbecue. I don't know if they keep the same prices when the fair is in session. If they do, it's an absolute steal. My First experience was while visiting the renaissance festival (FYI I love the festival) and I recently went during the week to try the food again. Both times it was a huge disappointment. I got the combo with all meat choices. It Might be Passable if you drowned it in sauce or are heavily intoxicated.

Read moreTo me and my buddy's surprise, 1572 is a Renaissance Festival restaurant that is both accessible from inside the fairgrounds and from the "outside" via gravel road off of Route 73.
It appears as just another "shop" within the fairgrounds, but you grab your grub and then go sit in a communal eating area that is close to a bar and small performing stage.
