First visit on a suggestion from a family member. Great advice. Everything was excellent. Ambiance, Cozy, Clean, Nice Southwest/Cowboy decor. Small bar with a few beers ( some local ones) and pre-mixed cocktails. We were seated promptly with our choice of either the dining room or bar side. Neither one is large but we were early (5:45pm), so it wasn’t a problem. We were never rushed and by the time we left almost every seat was taken. Our greeter was our server. She was very pleasant and helpful with some first time questions. She and another woman were greeting, seating and serving everyone. They never stopped moving all night and kept smiles on the whole evening.
For starters the Mrs. likes a Cosmo before dinner and was a little skeptical about a pre mixed one but decided to go for it. She was pleasantly surprised. Since the bar is small and uses pre-mixed cocktails, they don’t stock fresh fruit. Therefore they put a cute twist on it and added a candied lime to the Cosmo. I had a Cape Cod beer which was a large can that came out to 1 and a half glass fulls. Exactly what I like. I often order 2 and am struggling to finish the second one. This pour worked out perfectly for me. We opted to skip appetizers and went right to our dinners. I ordered the ribs with fries & cornbread. The Mrs. ordered the Mac n’ Cheese with pulled pork on top and had my Cole Slaw( not a fan). We both enjoyed our meals very much. I can’t say the bbq sauce was the best i’ve ever had but that is purely a subjective issue. It was good as were the ribs. The the right amount but as it’s not listed and i didn’t ask as to what size the order was,( ie; half rack, full rack). Whatever it was it was just the right amount for me. The sauce was not real spicy or hot which was to my liking. While some BBQ places will offer a choice of sauces here there is just one for the ribs. There is a yellow(mustard based) Carolina sauce also on some dishes. It was on the pulled pork the Mrs had and she liked it. The Mrs brought half of hers home (I did not 😂). There was no room for dessert this time. All in all, we were both very pleased and enjoyed our first experience at the Red River. We would certainly go back as I’d like to try some of the other selections on the menu. I would certainly recommend the Red River and am surprised by (although only a few) the negative reviews. To the women who are running it, keep up the good work, you’ve done a great job with the layout, decor, etc as well as the service. You have a winning...
Read moreWorst place! Called in order, woman said “let me check what times I have”, (thinking it was busy, and be about an hour or so), then says can you come in 15 minutes?! 🤔
Ordered BBQ pulled chicken sandwich. Got it home, NO barbecue sauce on it at all! Shredded chicken on a roll with mustard and pickles! 🤔🤔 NOT what I ordered. We also had ordered (2) Mac Attacks, Brisket Sandwich, and Hush Puppies. And 2 orders of fries ($2/each order)
Son went to pick it up. Lady at the desk asked him like 15 times, who?, what order? Literally had no clue as to what was going on. No tables in there either. Almost out the door, lady comes chasing after him. She gave him the wrong order, and also “forgot” a couple of items. 😲😞😳🙄
For the amount of money 4 sandwiches/plates cost, (over $80)🤬, it definitely was NOT worth it! Can’t really comment on my chicken sandwich, ….it was white chicken shredded. Ok, maybe 1 word: tasteless!🤷🏼♀️
Be interesting to see if they last at all!! Maybe check back next year. 🤷🏼♀️ Maybe the chef should have stuck to French cooking at L’Aloutte
Big disappointment, and I...
Read moreI’m a bit of a BBQ snob, as I enjoy to do it myself and have tried some really great BBQ and also some really bad ones in comparison. The northeast in particular is difficult to find really good BBQ that are better than my own BBQ, regardless of their amazing reviews..so I went to Red River BBQ thinking the ribs would be dry and charred like every other experience I’ve had around here.
BUT that was not the case! Red River BBQ actually knows what they are doing and can cook a real BBQ! The ribs were very flavorful, slow cooked at low temps (no charring or dryness here), and melted right off the bones! I was in BBQ heaven! You also don’t need to lather on the BBQ or hot sauces. The moist meat is flavorful enough!
I also tried the brisket, which was delish, and the Mac n cheese and corn bread. Corn bread melted in your mouth. Everything was delish! Prices are a tad expensive, but...
