Bottom line: Make this your first choice. My wife and I made a last minute booking to go see some canyons and get away from the light pollution so we could see some stars. I didn't really put any thought into where we were staying, just the first place I found that wasn't completely booked up. Frankly I was a bit worried when we were pulling into town because it doesn't look like much from the road; but those concerns where squashed quickly when we got inside. First was dinner, there is an attached restaurant and we got there just in time to order and eat, I didn't expect much but was very pleasantly surprised at what we got. I'll spare you all the details of what we ordered, but both dinner and breakfast the next morning were pleasant and satisfying. Now to the room itself, the room was small and perfect for a romantic getaway. Granted we didn't spend much time in the room, we were here to be outdoors after all, but despite the small size it was clean, cozy, clean, quite, and did I mention CLEAN! I cannot stress how important that is to me, but I found absolutely nothing to complain about for cleanliness. The bed was comfortable and the heater in the room allowed us to get the room to the perfect temperature for us on a cold night. All-in-all, I always lean to supporting local business over national brands but sometimes that is hard to do when it comes to lodging, this is NOT one of those times. I highly recommend anyone to give them a shot, and if I ever make it back out to visiting Zion or Bryce again this will be my first choice...
Read moreThew room was okay - if small and spartan. Mattress was fine but pillows were pancake flat, unfortunately. Hot shower with provided toiletries was unexpectedly welcome. But the cafe left a lot to be desired. I ordered the "special" which was roast beef w gravy, green beans and fries. Without cautioning me, the plate was served dry as they were out of gravy. Of course I would have ordered something else as the beef was dry and a bit gristly. The beans were a small portion of canned green beans, The fries were the highlight of the plate. But the worst was yet to come - I opted for the dessert special - strawberries over angel food cake w whipped cream. The berries (clearly previously frozen) had morphed to a fermented state by aging too long, and the whipped cream was two lumps of unsweetened cream that were the texture of butter. Thick and tasteless. The dessert was a total disaster for the $5 tariff they dared to ask. Apparently the "specials" are use-ups of poor quality or expiring foodstuffs that should be avoided. My bad for expected chef performance in house leftover push product. But Hatch Station has to do better for a mom & pop joint that should thrive...
