This is a wonderful place to get good coffee, breakfast food, and meet locals, as they really do gather here very frequently. We went the first time on a Sunday, as I was in need of some good coffee that they could grind for me as we were housesitting for people who had a sub-par grinder. They were so very helpful and guided me to their Puna Punch bean, which was the light roast I wanted. They then grinded it for me for the moka pot. I also got a Salted Caramel Cortado, and a Lox Bagel. Both were delicious...especially all the parts of the bagel...capers, onions, tomatoes, cream cheese, and good lox. Hubby got one too with his cappuccino. We came back the following Saturday fairly early so we could park in Hawi and sit at the coffee mill to watch the Ironman bicycle leg, as Hawi was the turnaround point. It was amazing to be there with all the locals and all the women flying through (it's grown so big, this is the first year they split the field & it was women only in the Kona event). All the local youth had tables out for the feed zone and got the chance to hand water bottles etc. to the elite athletes. Excellent experience and all right there at the Coffee Mill. By the way, a week later I ran out of coffee, but we were in Waimea so went to their sister (mother?)-store Waimea Coffee to get the Puna Punch beans and they were just as friendly.

Read moreThis is a true gem! My husband and I stayed in Hawi for a few days and every single day, we came here. First, the atmosphere and the people are just amazing. The staff was kind to us, and they clearly foster a healthy sense of community. It was very charming to see how much of a community hub this coffee shop is, people recognized one another, pet eachothers' dogs, and easily made conversation. Folks were very hospitable and friendly to us, and we left feeling like we had a new friend each time we had coffee. The food and coffee was also fantastic. We tried something different every day we went, and loved each thing we tried. I highly recommend a refreshing cold brew with one of their unique pastries, or the dark side cortado if you like a rich deep dark chocolate flavor. Also, the power was out in town one day when we stayed, and Hawi Coffee Co was one of the only places open. It was all hands on deck for the employees as they kindly and dutiful served as a meeting point for a whole community that morning. It...
Read moreAmazing little cafe in Hawi. Stopped here to do my online class and to grab a bite to eat. They have tons of vegan and gluten friendly foods, and even went to thetrouble of calling their vendor for gf bread to check that there were no eggs in it, and brought out their ingredients book and dug through it for each recipe I was interested in, not a lot of places will go that extra mile, but as someone who can rarely eat anywhere, it was VERY appreciated! I even got some delicious egg free ice cream. Wifi was solid, location was pretty, food was delicious and the service was above and beyond!! (to the servers here the day I went, you have no idea how happy it makes me to come across a restaurant that is willing to help me with my allergies and not make me feel bad for doing...
