Masaladas were great. Nvr had before and am now convinced that i have to try again. Imagine a fresh sugar coated square donut with a creamy filling. Yum but messy.

The musubi earned my review a 3. Over priced at 6.00 and flavor was not even on par with the ones u get at a gas station deli for 2.00. Dont travel out of your way to get the musubi here! IF you were passing through and love masalada or needed a sugar fix, stop by! Otherwise, id not go out of my way to get here. We came all the way from Hilton Grand to check it out. Spent about 60.00 on sampling their food n shakes. As we were about to leave i asked for an empty cup so i can get ice to cool my bottled water in the car... i was declined. I was thinking, seriously? I just spent 60.00 on fricking donuts and a 6.00 musubi!. So i offered 0.35 for an empty cup... again denied. Shook my head and left. Unlikely to ever return. As an aside, i worked retail my whole life. I own a retail business. I wont tell you how to run your business but i was disappointed. I would chew out my clerk for that move. If roles were reversed, id given the empty cup with a smile and tell that friendly customer to come visit again. Note upon placing our order, my wife explained how far we driven and that a local gave such high remarks that we just had...

The Malasadas are great. The dough is just right. Not dry or spongy. The filling could be a little more spread out, but there is definitely enough to pull dough off and "dip" into the filling. The plain, Bavarian cream, and plain with no sugar were the ones I tried. The grill cheese was also good. The cheese is flavorful however it's not sharp and maybe too creamy. I had the "peanut butter mouth effect" while enjoying the sandwich. Taste and size were great. See pictures for "grill". It was crispy but not dry. Definitely a guilty pleasure along with a Coke. Plenty of seating indoor or outdoor. Serves Coke 😁 (not Pepsi🤢) which is always a great indication of great taste vs cheap ingredients. Good job Tex! The place knows it makes a great product and doesn't put much effort into the appearance of the place. It could use a little TLC with a help of cleaning elbow grease. Worth the stop along the drive from Kona. Updated Malasadas continue to be great. Burgers are good if you don't mind all the bread. Bread is thick (see pics). HOWEVER, here's a tip for you....order a plain no sugar Malasada with your burger, split it like a hamburger bun, transfer everything over from your burger, and...

Malasadas=great. However service was not good. Lady behind the counter was clearly annoyed as us, a group of cyclists coming back from a long ride, were putting in a large order and subsequently asking for a few bottles to be filled. Honestly, filling a couple bottles of water with a $40 doughnut order seems no biggie. Honestly more, if she simply said "no we can't" due to policy, that'd be better, but even ordering, as gathering the group flavor prefs, taking a few seconds, clearly annoyed, even had some not great responses to changing one or two in the process. Maybe as we are seen as outsiders, maybe I don't know, but also maybe welcome folks looking very forward to visiting your establishment, and on a number of occasions over the years, looking forward to coming back for the food. So yeah, good food for sure, fun little place, but c'mon now, this isn't really warranted, and if it were, maybe put the crabby person in the back not interacting with customers. Happy to increase rating if perhaps the establishment were to...

We got an assortment of malasadas and man oh man... my cardiologist is sure glad I only ordered a half dozen for the family cuz I could of eaten a truck load! So so so delicious! The original and the creme are the best. The jelly ones are a bit too much filling for my taste but the kids loved them. Totally worth the trip up north! Pick them up and go to one of the look out points 20 min away and take in all the beautiful sites with these sweet tastes!

It's a very old building and when I drove into the parking lot, my wife didn't even realize this was it. So not a great immigration but we tried it anyway because it's famous. They do have a drive-thru, but they also let you order inside at the counter and have an indoor/outdoor eating area. I noticed the two types of patrons were either really old folks, or clearly locals. Interesting. The steak and shrimp teriyaki was so-so. The steak was not tough, but it did have a leathery texture. The shrimp were battered well with good flavor and cooked crispy. My wife had the kaluha pork and cabbage. Thanks goodness for cabbage because the meat was very dry. Mac salad was pretty decent, but then again, it's mac salad. And of course we tried their famous malasada. I got the guava filled which in hindsight I think was a mistake. It was overly sweet and far too over-filed. The breading was not soft and overall kind of bland. And all this food was pretty expensive. Unfortunately, even though it's a neat place, I can’t rate them high on quality.
