I came here for lunch with 2 of my coworkers. There were no clear parking lines. One sign said park here and get towed. Another said handicap vans only or you get fined $250. I ordered the (2) rib plate with a beef link. I asked if I could get the beef link swapped out with a hot link instead. The woman told me the beef link and the hot link are the same thing even though you can order the beef link and hot links separately on the menu. I asked her why they are separate on the menu if its the same item. She said something in Spanish I didn't understand. I said just give me the beef link then. I got baked beans for the side. You get the option of having either regular sauce or spicy sauce. I went with the spicy. Co-worker #1 ordered the same thing I did but got potato salad instead of the beans. Co-worker #2 ordered the rib sandwich and got the beans also. My food came with (1) rib (not 2) and the "beef link" was basically a big hot dog, kind of like the big bite from 7-11 and it was DRENCHED in sauce. I literally had 1/2 an inch of sauce sitting in the plate and the hot dog presliced and laying in the sauce. I also received 2 slices of white bread (this wasn't on the menu at all). The rib was good, but I only received 1. The hot dog was a hot dog. The baked beans were good, but just your average baked beans. They weren't bbq or have any meat in it. Spicy sauce was decently spicy. Flavor was ok. But it tasted store bought, not homemade. The bread is bread. Untoasted. Co-worker #1 said there was just too much sauce in the plate and that the potato salad tasted store bought. This is where it gets interesting. Co-worker #2 didn't receive a rib sandwich. Co-worker #2 instead received (3) ribs with a side of baked beans. It wasn't a sandwich at all. He did get the same bread that Co-worker #1 and I got, but it sure as hell wasn't a sandwich. Batteries not included, some assembly required. Overall for what we got this place is expensive, questionable and in the ghetto part of town. Also they don't take credit cards. It's either cash only or you get charged $1 to use a debit card. I don't think I would come here again since you have to check your food to make sure you got what you ordered. There also isn't any place to sit down to eat. Take your food to go, which is fine....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIn the heart of the hood, this place is a little on the pricey side for the local demographic. That aside, I paid the $12 for a lunch combo that left me feeling quite disappointed.
The lunch came with 2 pieces of chicken and one beef rib. The chicken was a brat breast, which, although drenched in sauce, was dry, not moist and tender. The wing, which was also drenched, was more most but mostly skin and bone.
On to the beef rib. This was a let down. Tasted totally reheated, was tough as leather and just plain poor quality.
The Cole slaw? Well, it was on par with KFC. Nothing special. Mayonnaise overdose.
Normally, I wouldn't care to write a review, but given the money I lost in this deal, I feel it appropriate.
It's not about the sauce. It's about the meat, people. That core value proposition ball was dropped.
Two stars, only because the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had the rib tips/sliced beef lunch combo with hot BBQ sauce & beans which was great. I'm a BBQ junkie really starting when I lived in KC 40 years ago. I've eaten BBQ all over the country from some of the most famous to local favorites and roadside stands, I will definitely come back here. The rib tips were fabulous, perfectly cooked and really tasty, the hot sauce worked well with them. The sliced beef was good but would probably be better with a milder sauce so you could taste more of the beef flavor. The beans were good, cooked perfectly and everybody has an opinion as to how they like their beans.I will say that it was the first time I've received wheat bread instead of white bread, a nice touch.
I do wish they had more combo choices for lunch but in response to the other review the price and what's included in the combos are all listed...
