Okay, here's the thing. Someone on FB raved about this new Indian Food Truck. Upon checking reviews, I got really excited! All 5 stars for a new restaurant?!? Amazing!!! My friend and I immediately called my husband and we agreed to change our dinner plans.
Upon arriving (It is not in front of the Red Barn, but around the convenience store at the Conoco station.) we were met with authentic aromas and music...and we knew we were in the right place.
We were greeted by two very nice Indian gentlemen who took our order. We ordered: Butter Chicken, Shahi Paneer, 2 orders of samosas, 2 orders of garlic naan, one regular naan, and 3 mango milkshakes.
We got home and opened our treasures. (Let me preface the next part of the review with saying again that the owner was very helpful and the food was ready quickly.) The food itself although was okay, was not at all traditional Indian food. Sadly, my Indian friend agreed with us wholeheartedly. (All three of us have enjoyed authentic homecooked and restaurant quality Indian food on many occasions!)
The butter chicken was quite delicious. We'd go back for that dish alone if it weren't for the portions...a tiny amount of chicken for the amount of sauce.
The flavor on the paneer dish was good, but only 8 pieces of cheese. The containers for both the chicken and paneer were mostly sauce.
The samosas...we were conflicted with this apetizer. If we weren't told it was a samosa, we wouldn't be able to identify it as such. The dough had more of a fry bread flavor and texture, and the filling...though quite tasty...was not a samosa.
The naan...oh the naan...This was more disappointing than the samosa. It was an elongated thick tortilla. The garlic not-naan didn't have garlic! It was definitely, definitely not authentic naan. We don't quite know what it was.
The mango milkshakes were mango flavored milk...not milkshakes...and were a little off.
And lest I forget the rice...It was undercooked, flavorless, and dry. We had to throw the bulk of it out as it was inedible.
All in all, I'm extremely disappointed. We had our hopes up that we had found authentic Indian food in CdA. I'm not sure what everyone else was raving about, but none of us will be going back.
(This would have been a 1-Star review if it weren't for the customer service and the flavor of the butter...

Tandoori Grill earns a modest three stars in my bookāa place of unexpected highs and a few questionable choices. The garlic naan is nothing short of a miracle: perfectly crisp, buttery, and downright divine when dunked in their Tikki Masala, a sauce that sings with spice and soul. However, the magic falters when the masala meets the riceāa forced union that strips the dish of its bold character, leaving a flavorless compromise on your palate.
Then there's the service, delivered by a team whose English is as elusive as a rare spice blend. Their unique way of communicating might charm the adventurous, adding an exotic layer to the experience, but it also leaves you wishing for a little more clarity when youāre hungry for a good meal.
In the end, Tandoori Grill is a mixed bagāa culinary journey with moments of brilliance and bouts of confusion. It's the kind of place that dares to be different, even if it doesn't always...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGrowing up in South Seattle and in a traditional Indian family houseš³š½āāļø. This was a horrible experience all around. We showed up to a ghost town of food trucks, only to have to be told 10min wait for the food. No problem, but when I walk back up to the counter after 15min, and have to wait another 15min to get my food. Then I'm upset š”. Now, let's talk about the food š. We ordered the samosa appetizer, 2 plain naan, aloo saag, and butter chicken. The total came to around $50.00, which was acceptable š¤. Also, the portions were decent. Unfortunately, the flavor š. The samosas were so salty and tasted like powdered potatoes. The aloo saag was so spicy even I had trouble with it š„µ. The butter chicken was for Millie, the meat was the tandoori chicken, which is a good thing. But, the butter sauce was like eating canned tomatoes š . The only thing we liked was the plain naan. We will not be...
