WARNING! RESTAURANT ALERT! WORST RESTAURANT EVER! WARNING! I should have rated it ZERO or a -1 !
I am a local guy that has eaten here about 25 times in the past and I LOVED IT!! I drove my boat there on last weekend for a lunch with the family. The place seemed different. The bar downstairs is where I usually eat, but this time, I was told the place is UNDER NEW MGMT and the downstairs is just for drinks now!
The NEW MANAGEMENT should try to eat a meal here NOW because its completely different now and the management would be understanding why I wrote this review! . HAS THE OWNERS EVER RUN A RESTAURANT? THERE is no way that any manager was at the place managing this place! The Kitchen manager need to try and eat his own cooking! ITS TERRIBLE!
The service was incredibly bad! The Waitress, who came over to our table with a COW RING IN HER NOSE, was on a cloud, as she got our order wrong over and over.
She brought out everything except for my wife's food, silverware or utensils, napkins, my own Sprite, and catsup. Why would any customer need any of these things like Utensils napkins or drinks?
THE BURGER I RECEIVED WAS OBVIOUSLY COOKED THE DAY BEFORE, as it was dry as cardboard, and had absolutely no taste or seasoning on it ( NOT EVEN SALT ON IT) When I complained, the waitress said that everyone loves their burgers and that they don't add any seasonings on it like salt or pepper!
In our order we ordered a bowl of shrimp creole. However, it was no bowl.... The waitress delivered the Creole in a 2 ounce sauce cup and not a bowl!
THE BATHROOMS HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED THIS MONTH, the place was disgusting, and the tables were dirty. The store attached to the restaurant was dark and was closed. The bar was empty and the waiting lines were slow to get served to SEAT PEOPLE UPSTAIRS.
I also heard the table next to mine complain to the waitress about how INEDIBLE the burger was! THE FISH TACO WE WERE GIVEN had a TINY PIECE OF of fish and a HUGE AMOUNT OF AVOCADO and the TACO CAME TO OUR TABLE ICE COLD, like it was pre-made an hour ago and never re-warmed! The waitress forgot my drink and finally brought it out after I asked her twice! The PLACE WAS one of the worst restaurant experience I have ever had.
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AND RUN FOR YOUR LIVES if anyone suggests this NIGHTMARE OF A RESTAURANT called Marina Station. I really think they need to change the name to Bulimia STATION! I think you can understand why since everyone at our table did not eat much of their food and I wanted to PUKE FROM THAT AWFUL BURGER that I was able to take...
Read moreSecond visit to Marina Station and the experience was much more pleasurable than the first...as we'd all hoped. The service has always been great and the remodel is spot on. Lot of slips for boat parking. Even though it was busy we were seated quickly. The food improved since the first visit which is very promising. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal which was delivered promptly and hot. Chicken sandwich was great, macaroni and cheese was great, buffalo chicken salad was great, and the catfish was great. Four stars instead of five because the selection on the menu doesn't cover enough tastes. Essentially, this place is a bar on a lake, not fine dining. Needs a wider selection of traditional bar food. With only one hamburger on the menu, no chicken fingers, no chicken wings, no fish and chips, no quesadilla, the selection fails to deliver a broad enough variety to accommodate the varied demographic and tastes. There are only two salad choices, one chicken sandwich choice, one burger, and an ahi tuna sandwich. If Marina station would accept itself as a bar/restaurant and take pride in serving such food and doing it well, It's chances for success would improve greatly. If they were to adopt a menu such as the one at Chevelle's, a long time very successful local restaurant, they would be a smash hit with the combination of food choices and the amazing, newly renovated space and views. We've witnessed many restaurants open and then fail in this spot over the years and there is an unfortunate familiarity with the path Marina Station is taking. I hope they will survive because we absolutely love the experience of dining in a place with the best lake views of any restaurant in North Georgia or Western Carolina. Marina Station has an awesome staff of very pleasant and accommodating people. We all look forward to it continuing to improve...
Read moreThey've just opened. They're actively taking feedback and implementing it. Photo: Honey Sriracha Chicken Sandwich. Enough said. The menu is nice, I had a hard time deciding because there were multiple appealing options. The staff were pleasant. The music was at an acceptable level. It was clean, the bathroom was clean. The key lime pie is made in house and it's good. I love the crust, you can see that it is loose, that it is not packed by a machine. They made it in house. Their fries are wedges which I love and I don't know where else locally that has wedges. They have homemade ketchup if you ask for it. The crab and corn fritters are essentially hush puppies with fresh corn and some crab served on the side, it's very good. I'll be back, I have to try the rest of the menu and I'll be back to edit this review when I do.
5/15 visit update. I had the bacon and brie burger. I ordered it medium (it actually came out medium) and without a bun. I saw the buns and they look amazing, so nothing against the buns. The burger was good, the bacon was good, and the cheese was very, very good. I loved it. The wedge fries were good and as fresh as one could ask for. Also, just for the good of you people, I tried the banana pudding. It was excellent. I even tried the whipped cream, which was really good. Surprising, considering I hate whipped cream. I would order it again, with whipped cream. Very nice end to the meal. Personally, I don't care, but I suppose they had enough people complaining about the ketchup packets that they have started serving the meals with individual cups of ketchup. Restaurant was about half-full of people and they all seemed content. Food was coming out of the...
