Wow -best tacos around. Thin hand made flour tortillas. The best salsa & fixings table around. You won’t be able to go anywhere else after you try this. Since they moved to Emeryville, the salsa table isn’t self serve anymore, but you can still pick however many toppings you want. They have a toppings chart and you just tell them which numbers you want.
They have changed location from 9000 International blvd to 5909 Market Street in NOBE.
The people complaining about the prices- they don’t factor in all the toppings that are available with any purchase. And that IS what’s so great about mama cuca’s- it’s their choice of toppings and their flour tortillas. Please don’t order anything without any toppings!
I have never been to a taco spot with this many wonderful topping choices. I normally don’t even like tortillas and I have to say it’s because other people don’t make them thin and chewy like...
Read moreArrived at 4pm to place my order and proceeded to wait for 4 hours until finally at 8pm my order was finished. Ordered 5 regular tacos and a regular burrito. There was no urgency to get orders in. Customers were waiting in the sun for over an hour to place their order and the person at the register was more interested in having side conversation than getting the orders. There are zero signs stating weather they take cash only or accept card payments. Other than a handful of stools there is nowhere for customers to cool down or sit staff does not communicate well or even try to calm down unhappy customers for the extremely long wait time. The Shias frescas have I’ve continuously poured into them so unless you buy one early it will be watered down by the time you place and pay for your order which is when they...

The meat was extremely tough (both pork and beef), and smokey in a "cooked over propane" way, not a wood fire smokiness.
The tortillas may be hand made, but don't taste any better than store bought and frankly didn't taste particularly good.
The prices are absurd. Taco yaqui was $12, tacos are $5. Special burrito is $17. The quantities are not at all impressive.
The salsas were pretty good, but didn't make up for the dog-chew textured meat and rubbery tortillas.
Maybe a Sunday dud. 2/5 feels generous.
3 tacos and a yaqui for $27, and not enough food for two moderate appetites.
I was excited for something new and exciting in Emeryville... I am...
