I just tried this restaurant for the first time. The food is amazing. The salsa is very tasty, chips are perfectly crispy, meat is quality, the chilé relleno batter was immaculate, white quest delicious, and I really have no complaints about the food whatsoever. However, the reason I omit one star is because the service I received was very lackluster, I would even go as far as to say it was horrible. I do not blame the restaurant for the shortcoming of one server. Our server seemed to need an attitude adjustment, and from the beginning he did not like us. We were not rude to him at all so he had no reason at all to dislike us. He was promptly assisting his other guests, but beyond taking our order he did not do much. A greeter brought us our drinks, and another server brought us our food. My grandmother-in-law had an issue with her meal and she had to flag down a different server to fix it. He did not attempt to come by our table to check on us. We only got one basket of chips so we ran out, and our cheese dip got cold. We never got drink refills even once. We had to go to the front two different times, once for a to go box, and another to get ask for our check. When the server brought the check he held it out in our faces and when we took it and he walked away and did not even say goodnight.
We brought this to the managers attention and he was accommodating so the issue was resolved. The manager and the greeter as well as the food are the only reasons we will be back to give it another chance. I am a server in a restaurant so I know how it's supposed to be done.
EDIT: I have been back to this restaurant multiple times since this incident, and the situation has been rectified. The server I mentioned in my above statement was refreshingly respectful, his attitude was 100x's better, and he has taken care of us in a timely fashion every time we visit-even if we are simply picking up some cheese dip to go. I would most definitely say he improved. It's possible he was just overwhelmed or having a bad night before, still that's no excuse to have a poor attitude while serving the public. I retract my previous statement, the servers are polite and good at...
Read moreWe stopped at this Mexican restaurant in Hazen Arkansas while out shopping in that area. It’s a little restaurant, just off highway, and next to truck stop. We were a little hesitant , but there were plenty of cars parked there, so we decided to eat in. The waitress was quick to seat us and combined two tables for the 6 of us. Moving the thick solid wood table and charge made some awful load screeching noises, and I felt bad for all the other people eating close by. The seating area is a little cramped, and all the loud noises echoed in the small dinning area. The chairs were thick heavy wood, but the more notable thing was all the cool artwork on all the chairs and tables. That was very cool. The pictures speak for themselves. They also had a very cool mural at the cashier booth made from bottle caps. The artwork caused me to bump up atmosphere rating to 4 star. I’ve included menu pictures. Prices were about average for Mexican food. We spent about $90 for 6 ppl, not too bad. The service was great. Our waitress was very pleased and attentive. She quickly responded whenever we asked for refills, extra napkins, etc. I give her 5 stars As for food, kinda mixed reviews. We got cheese dip to start. Man that was good. That’s probably one of the best white cheese dips I’ve ever had. Some of us who got the enchiladas, said they were really good. The rest of us got the fajitas with Chicken, steak, and shrimp; veggies on the side. We had to give 3 stars on the fajitas. The shrimps were really good. They only gave me 3 shrimp, which sucked. They were really good tho. Everyone’s fajita chicken, and steak were overcooked; and very dry. I was very hungry, so finished all my chicken and steak regardless. but no one else finished theirs. Another problem was with the rice, very dry, a little too chewy (tasted like old rice). So food...
Read moreI didn't do a perfect review because none is. But I'm a trucker and eat food from everywhere, including truck stops. I spent 15 dollars plus tip, 20. The chips were thin, light, and non greasy. I'm very picky about salsa, theirs was near perfect. Not too thin or thick or salty, excellent flavors with just enough zip! I got the mixed fajita plate. Grilled and seasoned chicken and beef, cut into about inch to 2 inch long pieces, very manageable, with grilled onions, tomato, various peppers. The whole plate was full! Plus 3 tortillas...most places will only bring 2, but u could use 8 or 9, for this size portion! Then one more completely full plate of shredded lettuce, various vegetables, a huge amount of refried beans topped with a bit of cheese, plus another large amount of Spanish rice. Also, the water glass .... it's as big as ur head!😜. The food took maybe 10 minutes, the waiter visited my table 4 times! From now on, when I go through Arkansas, I'm stopping here. And for 15 bucks, u can't even get a small or pathetic meal from the fast food joints at a truckstop. Big applause for the owners and staff, next time, I'll leave a bigger cash tip!!! Also tons of space for truck parking. If someone were smart they would open a donut shop or bolillo/Mexican bakery,...
