Pesto Restaurant — Restaurant in Hazleton

Food had it's highs and lows. We attribute this to the restaurant not being fully opened yet. On this particular evening we were the only dine in table. Some of the menu items were not available The 3 out of 4 appetizers were excellent. The 4th appetizer never made it to the table, maybe blame on the wait staff, maybe on the kitchen. Fortunately we were not charged for it. 3 out of 4 entrees were also excellent. The 4th entre was so bad , it should never have been served and should have been unavailable. This was directly on the chef! Unfortunately, it was one of the most expensive on the menu: overcooked, poor quality, and not as described on the menu and not as described when questioning the wait staff.

Atmosphere was warm but not memorable. Lighting was a little bright; slightly dimmer would have made the ambeance more cozy.

Overall on balance the meal was just ok. However, the restaurant has yet to have it's formal opening. Therefore, would have expected to have a more intimate interaction between wait staff, customer, and back of the house. There is great potential here, but the initial bug and issues need to be worked out. Hire more experienced or knowledgeable wait staff, better communication front of house to back of the house. Attention to detail: pitcher of water served, but no water glasses., grilled proteins served, but no steak knives offered, appetizer ordered, but never delivered from kitchen. Various items ordered but told after the fact that not available this evening. Would have expected chef to inform wait staff items x, y , z not available this evening. Printed menus need to be more descriptive given that it is a fusion of Italian and Dominican.

First time here. Our server was very nice and efficient. The food we had was a combination of Italian and Latin. It was well prepared and balanced but definitely not a traditional alfredo or pesto.
