Not to be too critical, but if there is a Wendy's nearby, go there instead. It's basic low grade hotel food. The two slices of meatloaf served was more like a dark colored canned spam. Mashed potatoes obviously too long hanging out waiting to be reheated. The other three dinners served among my party were also very disappointing. Waitress was nice but over attempted to build up the dishes that even she knew at best day no more than a two star restaurant. as for the four / five star ratings, have no clue other than most were over six months ago. I did get a chuckle over the 'Hidden Gem' remark.
In reply to the owner's response, It wasn't a 'night', it was Tuesday (Dec31) afternoon about 1PM. At first, I was a little angry with myself for selecting your place based on old reviews. (I doubled checked later that evening to see if I read the reviews correctly. That's when I found out how long ago written) I never take my cell phone inside. Perhaps I'm too old school, but if I had, I would have taken a picture of my meal. Seriously, I was visually taken back when the waitress placed the plate in front of me. No resemblance to meat loaf at all. I dislike having to give bad reviews. Perhaps because it reflects on my own poor judgement in selecting a particular establishment in the first place. Another mention, we had two appetizers , the Calamari and the 'cracked crab dip'. Both those were perhaps half eaten as well. For the Cracked Crab Dip to be remaining speaks very loud because in my party are Lobster and Crab fanatics. I do hope this helps. Thank...
Read moreOrdered the "Knotty Pine" barbecue sandwich, took one bite and that was it. Pork tasted Iike it was cooked for days in a crock pot with absolutely no seasoning at all. Very dry and bland. The strange relish that topped the sandwich did not improve the flavor at all, and the texture was beyond dry. It is served on a hamburger bun which felt old. The fries were cold and not crispy. I was at The Pines two years ago and the food was very good, dramatically different than it is now. I spoke with the manager and he said that the locals love the sandwich and it will stay on the menu as is. He did appreciate my feedback about the fries because many of the women in my big group had the same issue. I probably won't return until I hear something positive about the food. It's a real shame because The Pines is one of the few restaurants in Hazleton with truly great ambiance and class. Unfortunately, that is not enough. A good restaurant also needs to...
Read moreWe went tonight to celebrate my husband and daughters birthday! Atmosphere is beautiful, an old bank that as a kid I went to with my parents, now is this amazing restaurant! The vault is still here and the original bank ceilings are still intact! Lightning was a little too dim, and the tables are a little too small for a family of 7! Food was good. The charcuterie board, calamari and mozzarella wheels for the table were amazing! The bruschetta was a little soggy, but good flavor! The filet mignon was under seasoned and lacked that nice char that you expect from a filet! I could go on about the sauce on the chicken Parma, but canned sauce is canned sauce! The French onion soup is the best that we have ever had! Our server was good, she was the only server for about 18 people that were in the restaurant on a Wednesday evening! She handled it well! We will go again, not getting the sauce again, will get the...
