Gave this spot another chance after a bad experience about 8 months ago. What a dumb choice on my part. Food is decent for what it is, but the staff is some of the rudest Iāve experienced in Helena.
Remember the soup character from āSeinfeld.ā Think that, but ruder with food that isnāt worth waiting in a line for. The female with the short blonde hair here who takes your order--incredibly rude. The monotone āwhat do you want,ā paired with an angry & annoyed look. It was as if the fact that I wanted to spend money at this restaurant really just ruined her day.
Add in the other unfriendly staff + confusing ordering process and what a recipe for a spike in blood pressure. Zero help on what their ordering process is. You can barely hear them barking questions at you. It very much feels like dealing with someone at the DMV for a drivers license. The looks of anger and disgust from them if you donāt automatically know how to order correctly. Be sure to thank them for the wonderful experience though. They wonāt respond nor acknowledge thatā¦but you better tip them and thank them, because they still have to make your food. Yikes.
Don't spend your hard earned money here. Just don't. If you want legit Mexican from genuinely sweet people...go to El Vaquero Taqueria off 11th Ave.

Correct. I only take time out of my day to review sub-par places. I donāt feel the need to be like every other wannabe foodie on Google, more than willing to give a 5-star review for the most basic service and blah food quality offered. I used to cook professionally in a real restaurant, under a real Chefā¦so I know what Iām talking about. Glad to keep dancing toe-to-toe with you on this topic. Your overly inflated ego sickens me.
Try harder. Your level of entitlement in your reply is incredible. You honestly think your product is THAT good?? Your ordering system is chaotic. Your employees exude misery. Your food is mediocreā¦at best. How about you take some accountability for the bad experience of your paying customers and terrible service from your employees vs. making passive aggressive excuses? Too much for your pride to swallow? I get it. Youāre a Helena stapleā¦so why try. Keep believing your location and food have their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreProbably the worst "Mexican" food I've ever had. Where to begin...We ordered two supreme fish burritos - one in a tortilla and one boat style (naked), a kids cheese quesadilla, chips, salsa, queso and two drinks for $25.00.
Burritos were made up of a choice of meat and beans, and then wrapped up in a tortilla with cold shredded lettuce, cheese, sour cream and salsa. It was cold to eat with the exception of the fish stick (yep you read that right... see more below!)
They advertise the naked burrito as a gluten free option, but nobody bothered to tell us that the "baked Alaskan cod" was actually just frozen breaded fish sticks (FYI that's not gluten free). And no, a fish stick burrito is not what I was thinking when I ordered.
Queso is just heated Tostitos queso dip, chips are from Costco, salsa is diced tomatoes and onions with cilantro.
Our four year old ate her $2 cheese quesadilla and $4.50 chips and queso happily.
It's obvious that nothing is made in house. Oh wait maybe the kool-aid? Yep they serve kool-aid.
Anyway, just be aware that this is not Mexican, I don't even know what you would call it? Our favorite taqueria was closed today so we decided to try this, but I would advise to go to any other Mexican option in town.
The up side is the cool-factor. It's bright orange inside with high ceilings/exposed ducts inside an historic building on the walking mall. Don't be fooled by the facade...it's like dating a jerk just because his foreign accent is cool....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst, I want to start by saying that our food was great. We haven't really had a bad meal from here.
The service though, absolutely terrible. Why do service workers have to be rude for no reason? I understand that I called the second you opened at 11am but that's why you are open and should be ready and available to serve your customers. There should never be nasty and bad attitudes because you didn't want to take a phone order right at 11am. First, the first gal hung up on me when I asked to make a to go order. Then when I called back the supervisor or manager answered in a very rude tone. I told her I was hung up on and asked if I could please just order a couple things and she told me I was hung up on because the gal couldn't hear me. That's not true but okay. I apologized if it was my phone or on my end and kindly asked to place a to-go order. She was rude the entire time. I went it and paid for my order and put some 1 dollar bills in the tip jar because that's just what I do even though I was treated badly. She looked at me and walked away, not a "thank you" "thank you for coming in" "enjoy" nothing. I thought to myself "wow, we live in a world where tips are not earned anymore they are just expected" it's very sad. As a waitress myself for most of my life (not longer in the service industry) it's just very disgusting how service workers treat people. Do better ladies. Have a...
