Big Dipper Ice Cream — Restaurant in Helena

Tonight we enjoyed a great dinner at Lucca’s with family in downtown Helena. After, we decided to go for ice cream next door at Big Dipper Ice Cream with a party of 11. We waited for several moments, then all 11 of us ordered. We were all served and then we paid. Not two minutes after we received our ice cream, we were asked to leave because the business had a restriction on the number of people that were allowed in the building.

I asked a clarifying question to ensure that this was a Big Dipper policy and wasn’t something the county had done that I was unaware of. The employee confirmed it was a policy held by the business and was not mandated.

I wanted to do send something different than flowers. I thought ice cream would be better than an edible arrangement. Boy was it a hit! I live in Florida so Uber eats delivered it. That was an easy process and it was the first time I ordered through Uber Eats. The delivery driver contacted me and the app showed a map of his delivery route, it told me right before it was delivered. Right on time I got a phone call from the recipient so excited and completely surprised by it. So cool!! Big dipper ice cream is a staple of any Montana town this one is no different I got a waffle cone with three different flavors. Mexican chocolate, vanilla and Reeses and salted caramel. If I only had to choose one I would’ve gone with the salted caramel again-the vanilla Reeses didn’t have enough Reeses in the vanilla ice cream and the Mexican chocolate taste exactly like abuelita‘s hot chocolate back home however the salted caramel took today’s scoop-rich, creamy and extremely tasty….the waffle cone itself could use a tweak in the recipe but is still pretty good....
