We went as a party of 10 on Thanksgiving Day. We made a reservation a week prior to arrival but, when we arrived, they told us that they shouldn't have taken the reservation because it was such a busy day. We told them, that whether they should have or not, they did, in fact, accept our reservation and asked if the intended to honor it. They did not, and sent us to the back of a line that wove around the side of the building. Ordinarily, this would cause me to take away a star or two but, in this case, I chose not to because every other aspect of our visit far exceeded my expectations. The line, despite being easily 60-70+ people long, moved surprisingly fast. I don't think we were in line but maybe ten minutes before we reached the cashier. After paying and ordering our drinks, a couple of waitresses made sure that our tables were clean and that we had room to all sit together a bit away from the main hustle and bustle of the crowd. The waitresses were very attentive, never allowing our drinks to empty or our table to fill up with empty plates. We didn't have to search for them or wait for them any time we needed something. They were very friendly and polite, despite looking worn out from what I imagine was an incredibly difficult workday. The food was absolutely amazing. In my experience, buffets usually tend to have food that is bland and lukewarm, at best. And you're lucky if you're getting more than the scrapings from the bottom of the pan. This food was hot, flavorful, and refilled regularly. The dedicated chef grilling steaks was skilled at serving the meat at the exact level of "doneness" requested. The assortment left nothing to desire. They thought of everything: a dozen different types of meats, not including seafood, which added at least 6 more, every vegetable you could imagine, casseroles, appetizers, breads, toppings, condiments, Chinese, Mexican, gluten-free options, etc. There was something for everyone. (FYI: I highly recommend the fried catfish. It was some of the best I've ever eaten!) The desserts bear mentioning as well. Plenty of options including pies, cookies, cakes, ice cream, and puddings, just to name a few. Bathrooms were clean, atmosphere was nice, and, despite the restaurant being full, the crowd was polite and everyone worked together to make sure everyone had access to the food without crowding, pushing, or rudeness. Everyone was kind to each other today, something you don't see often these days. While I wasn't happy about them not allowing us to keep our reservation, it was only a mild nuisance and didn't do anything to take away from our meal or our experience. It was thoroughly enjoyable and I definitely recommend going...
Read moreI haven't came here to eat at the Henderson location with my family in almost a year and a half. I remember back years ago, you could actually take home a to-go-box if you wanted to take home your leftovers that wasn't eaten. The restaurant was fine with that, just like alot of other restaurants that offered a take home box for your food. Now, as of tonight, seems like things have changed. I asked my waitress if I could have a to-go-box for my 2 kids because they didn't eat all of their food. The waitress replied, no we don't allow that anymore. I said why, she said because now we have to weigh your leftovers and charge you by the pound for the food you take home. My replay to the waitress was...really, are you serious that we have to pay more money on top of the $17 a plate per person charge just to take what food we didn't eat home with us. The waitress said yes that is correct, my response to her was...No Thank You! I was there tonight at Golden Corral with my wife and 3 kids, which costed $95 for us all to eat. Now, I had to explain to two of my kids, that I'm sorry you can't take the food. My 10 yrs old daughter cried as we were leaving the restaurant. All we seen as we were leaving was, the waitress and a couple others whispering in the corner as they looked at us. The food is great at this place and have liked the quality etc for years, just not the current new food rules. Seems like they aren't as (Holy) as they used to be, I mean I'm not sure you tell me. I apologize for the long review, but just wanted to vent abit....Happy...

The good: To be expected for a buffet, lots of variety. I was really looking for a salad bar (which are almost impossible to find anymore). Tons of desserts. Everything from pizza to fish to meatloaf. Server was excellent! Super attentive. I never wanted for a refill or had to watch used plates stack up at all. The place was clean and our server did a great job of maintaining his area as well (always sweeping and wiping down tables).
The bad: In two words, price and quality. An adult dinner buffet was $17 with tax and separate drink. And, while there was a good variety of food, some had been sitting for a while without refills or fresh product. The steak grill area wasn't manned and there was one rather well done piece of meat that sat untouched the whole time I was there. While I tried a couple of entrees and sides, I really went for salad. Again, while the variety was there the quality left something to be desired. For some reason the iceberg lettuce seemed to be sitting in a puddle of water in its bowl. The cottage cheese was rather watery as well. There were about 5 pineapple chunks left to choose from and the same with pears and watermelon chunks. The sliced mushrooms didn't suffer the same watery fate...they were actually a bit dried out and hard to chew.
Overall, I'll probably go back with some companions but this isn't more than a once, possibly twice, a year experience at best. For the money we'll head elsewhere. I'd rather have quality over...
