urbanHouse — Restaurant in Henderson

While camping nearby, I searched out something to do with our rainy day. I stumbled upon UrbanHouse and felt inclined to pay a visit. This was a first visit for my wife and I as were not from the area. Our experience here today was nothing short of perfect! Upon entering I was wowed by the decor and over all vibe of the space. Placing my order with the owner l, Robin was an experience in itself. Having traveled across the country as well as internationally, always trying coffee spots out, the knowledge she shared was impressive to say the least. While awaiting our order, I stumbled upon their courtyard area and absolutely loved the whole design and layout. Then the order came...the Cortado was so smooth and creamy! We couldn’t decide between the Cinnamon Roll or Italian Roll, so naturally we ordered both. While the same dough is at the heart of these pastries, they are wonderfully different! The Italian Roll being light and buttery, and the Cinnamon Roll FULL of rich flavors. They were both so amazing that we ordered another pair to go!!

The staff was very friendly and continued to ensure we were taken care of throughout our visit. Robin offered a sample of their Nitro, and it was honestly THE best Nitro I’ve had to date! So smooth and pleasantly creamy!! We grabbed a Honeysuckle Latte and a Brazilian Brown Sugar Latte for the road. Robin insisted we try them before leaving as she wanted to witness our reaction first hand! Both offerings were wonderful! Full of flavor, creamy and just the right amount of sweetness! I typically enjoy my coffee black, however I would certainly order either of these again!

Until...

I travel for work and my territory is West TN. While traveling, I have to meet with various individuals in different locations and I recently had to meet with a client in Henderson. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the nicest person who happened to be the owner, Ms Robin. Considering I had never attended, I wasn’t sure what to order, but Ms Robin generously informed me about all the wonderful items on the menu. I selected the nitro brew with their signature mojo and a homemade roll with chocolate syrup. The roll had the perfect texture and flavor. The nitro brew was literally perfect and probably the best I have ever tasted. It being nitro brew, Ms Robin made sure I knew how much caffeine was included and how strong it could be. That type of customer service is what I look for everywhere I attend. She also got to know me and my name and even shared the story of how UrbanHouse started. The vibe was comfortable and welcoming and I believe that’s key to a successful coffee shop. This place is the real deal and I highly recommend it to everyone. I am excited to attend again...

We were interested in trying this coffee house and possibly making it our regular stop, but when I called and asked if their staff were wearing masks they immediately hung up on me. I called back to explain that my wife is a chemo patient and ask if they could mask up while making her coffee and I was told that because the county doesn't have a mandate they don't have to then hung up on again.

A simple ask that they help protect a possible patron from this pandemic, but they couldn't be bothered. Health Department and CDC guidelines require masks to be worn when preparing food. A county mandate, or lack there of, does not supersede that. Let alone a simple care for their patrons during this time, but they cannot be bothered to show any compassion or willing to go a little extra for those that would frequent their business.
