When we arrived we expected a wait, they said it would be about 30 mins, so they took our cell number and said they would call us when the table was ready. After 45 mins my daughter went to ask how much longer and they said they tried to call, but there was no answer, yet no one ever called, but they did get us in right away. After we were seated it took approximately 20 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us at our table, and the only reason someone did was because a sever cleaning the table behind us, heard me say something to my daughter about no one coming to the table. She took dishes to the back and came to our table and asked if anyone had helped us, and told us she would if our sever didn’t come help us in a few minutes, and we thanked her. It was 5 minutes and a sever did come to take our drink order and said he’d be back in a few minutes. We did not see him for another 20 minutes. He dropped all but one drink off which he came back with in a few minutes, and took our food order. The sever told us we might not see much of him because he was severing a party of 30 and another server would bring our food out when it was ready. The food took over 30 minutes to get. I wasn’t so upset about the timing for food as the fact that my food, eggs Benedict, was cold while everyone else’s food was at least warm, but their American potatoes were hard because they weren’t cooked long enough, which is probably why I noticed others around me had not eaten theirs either. I tried to tell the guy that bought the drinks we ordered when he dropped the food off but he ran off after he took the drink order for drink refills. When he came back with the drinks and he went to put the drinks down he spilled them on my daughter and laughed, did not apologize at all, but said at least she’d cool down…I guess the response would have been ok had he at least apologized. So in his hurry to clean up, my attempt to tell him about the food was lost. At this time I just wanted to leave, so I took my grandson, who also had enough of the sit and wait that we’d been in far too long, and went outside with him. Our original server did come back with the bill and boxes as I was leaving. To say I was extremely disappointed is an understatement. I can’t say I will return, let alone recommend the place, considering it was a disaster from the point of walking into the building. But on a good note my daughter had said the scrambled eggs were the best she had ever had dining out.
This was the Canal Park location,...
Read moreI've been here twice now, and both times were wonderful! Expect a wait as they are always busy and parking will take extra time since there isn't much of it. But, IT'S WORTH IT! I went with my parents and sister, and we had to wait about 10 min for a table as they were a little short staffed. But again, worth it. I've had the corned beef hash (which, mom got this time & it came with a pancake), but this time, I switched it up with the breakfast burrito with sausage. Dad talked me into it. They bring out several different hot sauces depending on your spiciness level preference, which I love because I'm a spicy girl. It was a decent sized burrito and is definitely filling. It wasn't the absolute best breakfast burrito I've had (I've had a lot!) but it was still pretty darn good. And I couldn't not get a cinnamon roll for the table. My friend sent me home with one the last time I was here, and I've been salivating in my dreams about them ever since. They are like a little (not so little), warm, cinnamon cloud bursting with flavor, and just the right amount of gooey. Unfortunately it went so fast I couldn't get a photo. The staff was great both times I was here, even though they were packed. The food comes out in a normal amount of time, so you know they do it right. The decor is nothing special, sort of a minimalist cabin-like, the tables are far enough apart so it maximizes space but you don't feel like you're sitting on the lap of the person at the table next to you. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with their new location the next time I'm back! This has quickly become a favorite brunch spot of mine! I highly...
Read moreI’ve told about 1,000 people about the $6 waffle and bacon combo! Seriously! The gals I work with just laugh because they know if we start talking breakfast foods or local restaurants or new local businesses with each other or our patients, I’m going to mention The Social House. I’ve been in 4 times to eat that same darn waffle combo and will come back over and over again for it. It’s not only a great deal, it’s absolutely delicious! My daughter ordered the gyro twice and has loved it both times too. My husband has ordered a couple of their sandwiches and has been happy each time.
The restaurant is clean and fun, with a cool chalkboard wall you’ll want to check out. The service is fast and everyone is super friendly. It’s been packed, especially with older people, every time I’ve been in there, so you know the food is good and the prices are fair.
My only complaint is their hot chocolate. My daughter and I both ordered hot chocolates last time we were there and wouldn’t order them again. For a $3 hot chocolate, I expected more than just a gritty packet of instant hot chocolate stirred into hot water, especially because they serve good, local coffee. But, in the grand scheme of things, that’s a pretty small complaint.
You guys are doing awesome! Keep up the great work and get ready for more customers because I’m going to tell another 1,000...
