Over all good restaurant! I was in town and looked up seafood restaurants and this restaurant came up. The parking was a bit hectic people were parked in front each other and blocking each other‘s cars in but I was able to find a spot Across the street since lit attacked only held five cars. I visited around lunchtime (11am-12pm) so it was a nice amount of people in the restaurant, was able to get seated immediately upon entering and they came over with bread and butter. The bread tasted good but it was not warm, had it been warm it would’ve been amazing. I started with lobster empanadas that were hot and amazing they didn’t taste of lobster it just taste of seafood but still really good, the seafood ceviche which was small but amazing and then moved on to the cream of shrimp soup that was absolutely phenomenal. For my main I ordered the whole fried snapper it was $17.99 per pound and my server let me know that it’s normally 1 to 2 pounds so that I should anticipate pay it about $30 for the fish, I was OK with that since I did not want a small piece of fish it came out pretty big it was steaming hot! My sides were yellow rice which was not warm and a side salad which consisted of a few pieces of lettuce with a few slices of tomatoes and onions and they had carry out packs of ranch dressing for salad. My friend ordered the lobster ravioli and unfortunately as we assumed they were bringing our food out they were letting us know that they did not have the ravioli so it definitely extended our time in the restaurant I was over halfway done eating before my friend receive their meal. It was working it all food was good, service was kind an restaurant was clean. I’d return for sure when back in Miami.

I have been coming to Cayo Esquivel for probably 20 years. I used to live in Miami Lakes however since moving to Cooper City I don't get down there as often as I'd like. Some of the servers have been there for decades indicating low turnover. Last time I went, I was recognized (after a long hiatus) with hugs and smiles. The seafood has always been very fresh. The fish filet sauce dishes are all delicious. However, my favorite thing here is the Paella. It must be ordered ahead as it takes 45+ minutes to prepare. A beautifully prepared Paella and a jug of perfect Sangria is a perfect feast for me. For appetizers though, definitely try the fish dip and the lobster empanadas. Don't let the warehouse / industrial setting put you off. This place has been here for decades and although it is nestled in by auto shops and warehouses, it is clean, safe and there is plenty of parking in the gravel area out front. My picture is from 12/23/2017 and it is their Paella for 4. It was teaming with lobster, fish, shrimp, mussels and squid. I had this for lunch on the next day (Christmas Eve) and it kept well and was still wonderful. I've tried the fish filets (usually snapper) and sandwiches (usually grouper) and they've been fabulous. I've never had a bad experience here and I hope this place is around for decades to come.

This place was recommended, but we didn't understand the hype. I had the seafood parillada and it was a bust! The lobster they covered the reality with didn't even look legal in size. When I lifted the lobster what I found looked like a bag of frozen seafood from Costco. Bait sized shrimp and scallops that looked like someone's tooth. My husband had the corvina which he said didn't taste like Corvina nor was it flakey as expected for this type of fish....he had to use a knife to cut fish!!!! The only part of the meal we enjoyed were the fish croquetas. Won't be going back or recommending.

The worst experience I've had with my family, food was terrible and the service even worst who serves you a chicken sandwich with tartar sauce lol they have a very small selection or no selection on soda pops having a Winn Dixie right across the street. When my wife asked for a Sprite for her and our son with out telling her they didn't have any she jus brought them some cheap lime soda that I've never even heard off wich tasted like crap cause they also don't have coke or pepsi or any of the brand sodas people normally drink on a day-to-day basis, when food finally arrived we couldn't eat with out the waitresses staring at us like we where gonna steal the hooks inside the laminated wooden tables, salad was horrible, the tilapia was under cooked and finally when we where done eating and paid our bill and got up to leave the owner personally walked to our table picked up our money counted it to make sure it was all there and put it back on the table so I walked back in and told him that the money was all there he knoded his head like saying "yeah I know" and shot me the middle finger while I was walking out but his such a big man that he did it while I had my back to him as I walked out,my 11 year old son saw him and told me,if that's the owner imagine the restaurant and his employees "HORRIBLE".By the way we tiped his waitress her 15% of the bill.If I could I'll give it Half a 🌟

Thanks for taking your time and replying.First of all If I was being so rude and causing a scene how come your manager never came to our table to address the problem or to see what was going on,or you for that matter I don't know if u where in the premises but from what you wrote it seems you personally talked to the other customers that where there at the same time we where and if you were there how come you wasn't called out to the floor, second of all to address your comment about treating people like servants and second people, you can't serve a table from behind the bar all away across the other side of the room,if there was fountain drinks how come the waitress didn't offer it to us and just brought us what ever she felt like bringing or the fountain drinks are for special customers only, shes laughing and joking about the small selection of drinks that are available or are the fountain drinks for special customers only, and third it was an embarrassment that your manager had to walk over to our table after we get up to check if all the money for the bill is there, did we look like we had no money, did we look like we where a starving family, does your manager checks every table after a meal is completed to make sure the customers paid for their food. That must explain why the whole time we were there your other waitress kept looking at us with your manager and I also don't appreciate her giving my 12 year old daughter bad looks every time she walked by our table I mean really to a 12 year old and let's not forget about the lovely gesture your manager made to me in front both my kids wich are 12 and 11 in which you didn't even had the decency to apologize for nor mention but mostly I just want to thank you,the owner.Thank you for the great experience in your restaurant in which thought my two kids exactly how not to...

Best Jupiña in all of Hialeah, they do a good job of hiding the “freshness” of their food with a ton of grease. All and all the service was actually good, food not so much.

In response to Cayo’s reply: We spent just under $300 we would expect high quality food when spending that much. I said nothing in the restaurant because there is nothing that could be done about using old fish, bad ingredients and not taking the time to perfect your alternative options. I’ve had a lot of fresh fish in my life, I practically live underwater and this hog fish tasted like it had been frozen for months the fritters tasted like they were fried in old grease. The people at my table that ordered chicken couldn’t finish their meals, one person told me the “this chicken taste like it was cooked on asphalt” the other person took two bites and gave up. And yes it’s true... they do put tartar sauce on their chicken sandwich. I believe the only reason this restaurant is successful is because of its location, the average customer at this restaurant simply doesn’t know or hasn’t experienced better quality. I normally wouldn’t rate a restaurant 1 Star, especially with the good service we received but this restaurant is over rated, it truly is a 3 star location that shouldn't be rated 4.5. I hope my 1 star rating can help bring the average down to match the food we...
