Circa — Restaurant in High Bridge

We have been to Circa many times and it's either really good or just very disappointing and lately it has been the latter. Food is good but the service and kitchen are painfully slow. We arrived at 4:15 and were immediately seated but took about 10 minutes before we were approached by a waiter; we were the only table at the time. We eventually ordered the flatbread as an appetizer and were told by the waiter that it takes a little bit of time. We said no problem because we've ordered it before and it usually doesn't take very long but we did not realize this time it would take over 30 minutes for us to receive it. From the time we sat down to the time we received our appetizer, 50 minutes had gone by. I could understand if the restaurant was busy but we were literally the only table at the time which makes it entirely unacceptable.We received our entrees shortly thereafter and they were good but overall a very disappointing experience and probably the last...

This was the worst experience of my life they tried to charge me and 4 other 160 for some really small salads and the grilled cheese was uncooked burger bun with cheese still cold all that taking like 1 hour mind you it was nearly empty after talking to somone about this we were offered free dessert we happily accepted just to find that the crambule chocolate cake and short cake was shmashed so intenshionaly smashed and if they had the audacity to smash our dessert I know damn right they didn’t do a gloves which mind you is a violation in in the NJ health code do not eat here, but if you do or you walk by, make sure to flip them off for me and varying sizes of plates all for the same price like our fries on picture above is my grandmothers plate after she at some and the other is my moms right after we got it unacceptable i’m not normally one to do something like this, but this was truly a waste of time and the smashed desserts were insulting in conclusion...

Food was mediocre as were the cocktails.

Ribeye for $36 was choice at best and not flavorful at all. Penne Vodka was not bad but not nearly enough sauce.

Desert was horrible. I told the waitress the carrot cake was so bad that I could not eat it. It was so dry and hard that I put a fork in it and had to slam it onto my plate 4 times to get the fork through it. Waitress did not even remove it from the bill. The molten chocolate cake has dry and no molten at all. The chocolate chip ice cream sandwich cookie was so hard. Could not even bite into them. Ate the ice cream, cookies not eatable.

Waitress said all the deserts were made in house, my recommendation, fire your pastry chef.

We all agreed the best part of the meal was the beet salad, followed by the laughter of attempting to eat the deserts.

The waitress had an attitude of just not giving a “F” about anything.
