As someone who frequently dines at this Mayas location, it’s upsetting to have to write a negative review because of the lack of integrity from a member of their staff. My friend and I dined at Mayas for Taco Tuesday. Our server was a middle aged caucasian woman. She told us sad stories of her husband essentially abandoning her and their child after developing substance abuse problems and that at the end of the month, she would be a single mother and having to either live out of her car or rent a room from someone in their home. It was essentially too much information to share with dining guests, but my friend and I sympathized with her situation. After requesting our separate checks, I opted to pay my bill in cash, while my friend utilized the apple pay function on her phone. I didn’t want to break another twenty so I opted to utilize lesser bills to pay for my tab and her tip. Upon leaving the restaurant, before ever reaching the car, all of thirty seconds, I realized I had left my wallet at the table and headed back into the restaurant to retrieve my wallet. Our server met me at the door with my wallet. After checking my wallet, I noticed that money was missing. I went back in and spoke with the manager and inquired if they had cameras on the tables, to which he said they did not. He offered to give me the missing money, but I declined, as I stated to him that it was the principle of the matter. Unfortunately, I will never dine here again. However, to the waitress that stole the money from my wallet, may God have mercy on you and continue...
Read moreTL,DR; AT BOTTOM! I had ordered take out and it was a little messed up, so I reported back RESPECTFULLY the next time I ordered to KIERAN at th bar. BAD: They messed up my take out order. Not terribly but - Didn't put steak in quesadilla, didn't include salsa as stated per menu, took WAY longer than the 20min suggested. BUT THE MAYA STAFF IS ONLY HUMAN! They were SWAMPED, short handed, and I DIDNT bother to check my food before I left.
Staff member Stephanie over hears my issue and says: " no hunny, you SHOULDN'T HAVE to check, we should get it right the first time." to which Keiran backed up. He PHYSICALLY noted the issue infront of me and walked in the back to grab my CURRENT pickup order.
After just a few minutes longer than expected YANET AND KEIRAN not only returned with my order, but a replacement for ALL of the botched items from the last order as well. I explained how much the Sandston community loves them as our newest addition, the great food, and even better staff. I shot the breeze with Stephanie for a second about how great the food was before leaving.... which resulted in SHENITA having Stephanie hand me 2 orders of carnitas tacos (she mistakenly over ordered herself) just for the kind words! So for the lack of a few pieces of steak and a bowl of salsa I walked out with enough food for 2 days! I can't speak any more highly of the folks at Mayas sandston!
TL,DR - PEOPLE GREAT-FOOD EXCELLENT- PARKING SUCKS WHEN BUSY. THIS IS THE FAMILY EXPERIENCE ....EAT HERE REGARDLESS YOU WONT BE...
Read moreThis was my first time at Maya’s Latin Kitchen. I took my team from work to lunch there. They all agreed the food was really good! The portion sizes were good so you will not leave hungry. Nice serving sizes and the pricing was fair. The parking was free and easy to get to. The staff greeted us on arrival and seated us right away. They were always very attentive and pleasant. This is a great Latin food option in Sandston. The food quality and taste were excellent. I think this will be a successful restaurant and it will be around for a long time. There was a different restaurant in this location before, it was previously Red's BBQ. This was quick enough to get in and out for lunch during the workday. The chips were great! They provide free chips, and I think they make their own. The chips were thick and the salsa and queso dip were good too. If you want a superior quality Mexican meal, I recommend you try Maya’s Latin Kitchen in Sandston Virginia. You will be pleasantly surprised. This is on the ground floor and appears to be handicap accessible if you need to get in with a wheelchair. They have tables and booths depending on...
