This was my first visit to Sunset Grill, and overall, it was a decent experience with a few highs and lows. We arrived right when they opened at 8:00 AM and were the first ones there, so we were seated immediately. The waitress was very friendly and took our order right away, which was a great start.
I ordered the “Farm For Special,” which includes a biscuit topped with homemade corned beef hash, sausage gravy, and two eggs. The food arrived surprisingly fast—under 10 minutes—which made me a bit skeptical about just how “homemade” everything actually was. While the dish tasted good, the gravy seemed canned or possibly reheated from the day before, and the corned beef hash had that dry, jarred texture. Still enjoyable, but not quite what I expected from a homemade dish.
My companion had sausage and eggs, and the sausage patties were the thin, perfectly round type you’d find in the freezer section at Food City or Costco—nothing fresh or unique.
The interior of the restaurant is clean and welcoming, though there was an odd smell in the air that was hard to ignore.
All in all, the food was tasty, the service was friendly, and it was worth trying. I might give Sunset Grill another shot for lunch or dinner to see if they shine more...
Read moreThe restaurant is spacious and has a full bar. The windows are tall, and while the seating near them is bright, the overall atmosphere is quite dim. We had the Denver omelet and the bacon cheeseburger. The Denver omelet was generous in portion and soft, with the hash browns on the side being crispy and very tasty. The burger was standard but still good. Both the black coffee and the coffee with milk and sugar were delicious. The iced coffee was a bit weak, but the free refills were a nice touch.
Since the house wine is only $5, we decided to come back the next day to try it. This time, we had the strawberry waffles and the Angus beef ground sirloin steak. The waffles were small but thick and fluffy. Unfortunately, the strawberries were not fresh; they were defrosted, and one was still frozen. However, the dish was overall quite good. As for the steak, we expected a handmade, tender hamburger-style patty, but it turned out to be more like a hard, thin burger patty.
Given that the house wine at Oswego Grill’s happy hour was terrible, our expectations were low. However, both the red and white wines were very good, especially considering the $5 price. My husband liked the place a lot and said he’d love...
Read moreWe went in for breakfast, after having sunset grill delivered to our house once before, through a delivery site. After being extremely pleased with food then, we thought we should physically come and visit the restaurant. After going today, I am so happy we did! The food was delicious and great portions. I ordered the ranch hand’s favorite, which included two eggs, 4 pieces of quality delicious bacon, hasbrowns crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside, and extremely tasty, along with two bisquits and gravy. I must honestly say their gravy is amazing! It taste like the gravy I make, thick, creamy, a little kick due to the pepper and full of flavor! All the items were warm, just off the griddle, tasted amazing and the service was great! Not once did we have to ask for a coffee refill, the lady would come around about every 5 minutes. This place deserves so much more business and I would love to see it the top spot to eat! The food was great, awesome portions and the prices were great as well! I can’t wait...
