Tankys Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Hillside

UPDATE: Tankys has gone from being my number one dive bar to the last place I would get a drink from. The new bartenders rather take shots and party, then serve up drinks and the drinks are not the same quality that they used to be. The last few times I went there I had to wait 30-40 minutes before getting my drink because the bartenders were having a grand ol time. The pool table is cool, but waiting so long at the bar, I was repeatedly hit with pool sticks or had to move. I hope things get back to the way it was

Tankys is the spot! These people in the comments below complaining about it being unsafe just have nothing better to do. Other bars right down the block plays music just as loud and stays open just as late. Besides the one incident last year, there aren’t any brawls or fights that happen there. Most ppl that go there are regulars and know each other. To the ppl complaint about it being loud in open late, you have the power to move to another place you knew where you were moving to when you moved there tankys has been there my whole life

The drinks are strong and cheap, the vibe is chill, older crowd, when they have a DJ the music is good, u can bring food in, and they have a lil pool table and a parking lot. I been going to tankys for year and never had a bad experience. Occasionally the bartenders be too busy to get to me and I’ll get tired of waiting and leave but...

There was a shooting at this bar on the 20th of April at 1:30am. They should not be allowed to stay open until 2am. It has now created an unsafe environment for the people who live in this area. Tanky's needs to shut down past 11pm like any other business in this area. They were up and running again the next day right after the shooting. Insane... They have completely no regard for the people that live close by...playing music loudly until 2am every single night, even during the week....I could understand on the weekends, but during the week? It's disrespectful and inconsiderate. I have complained multiple times to it's owner, and to the town (police department, mayors office), and nothing is being done to enforce an earlier closing time for this bar. Tanky's draws late night crowds during the week and I have witnessed massive street brawls, litter all over our street, and allowing patrons to linger after closing blasting music in their cars. It's out of control. There are working families with small children that live within close vicinity and we were here prior to it becoming more like the nightclub setup that it is now as opposed to the quiet tavern it used to be with the previous owners. If I can give this place no stars I would. I don’t even want to give this place any recognition at all but I live in the neighborhood and There was recently a shooting because of the bar. They are constantly playing loud music during quiet hours and they attract bad crowds that walk outside the neighborhood and smoke weed on peoples doorstep or infront of they’re houses next to the bar for there is all residential neighborhoods surrounding the area. The OWNER IS AWARE OR THIS. They are selfish people. I give this business no stars. This place is not safe. I recommend you stay away from this establishment...
