The view was really nice! The food was okay, nothing crazy that will make me ask for it again. But that's expected in touristy places and we should know that, so that is not why I give 3 stars instead of 5. Unfortunately It started raining and we ate inside. Can't control weather. At least we had a nice table, upstairs that we could see the view. => 3 stars because it was our first time there and with Covid you are never sure what's the policy of each place. We asked questions like: do you allow dine in? Can we sit outside although it looks like it might rain? And they answered but they were not very polite to someone that comes for the first time to your place. =>3 stars because they gave us to a waitor that made us feel like we should be thankful that he will bring our food. Without a smile, annoyed when we asked 1 or 2, really no more that 2, questions...and we were the ONLY ones that he had at the time. So he was not even busy. No excuse. => 2 stars because the food was expensive for what it was. Shrimp tacos and chicken with fries. I MEAN COME ON. But I upgraded to 3 because it offers the view at least.

This is a great place to grab a bite. Although the menu is small there are lots of great options. The sword fish, Cuban sandwich and the crab cake are delicious. The flavor was so good. I also enjoyed the coleslaw which had ginger in it! Of course the hush puppies are yummy and the exact same ones from the Salty Dog. The down side is they are only open from 4pm-8pm. Such a gem of a place to hang out on the deck, have some very good food. The service was fantastic too. Kaitlyn was our server and she explained the menu to us very well, she provided great service. Even the manger greeted us and asked us about our meal. It’s hard these days to find great service and this place has great food and great service.

Food was delicious. The hush puppies were top notch! The juiciest fried chicken ever! My son loved his fried chicken (and he’s super picky). The ambiance and atmosphere is perfect for families with kids, super peaceful and accommodating. Beautiful view of the harbor! But more importantly, the service was AMAZING! Service was excellent! We were beyond impressed. They were great with our kids, so patient and generous. Thank you to this restaurant and your service team for giving us a wonderful experience on our vacation.

I’m writing to let you know about the horrendous experience we had at the Wreck of the Salty Dog on Monday evening, May 28. Our server was Andrew (Drew). We had to ask for silverware/napkins 3 times once our food was brought. Our food was not even brought out together, one party at our table had to wait significantly longer than the rest. Drew blamed it on a new kitchen crew who were “in training”. My son ordered the kids pasta w Marinara sauce. The pasta was brought out dry, w no sauce & topped w about 4 pieces of burnt, dried out chicken which we did not order. We brought this to Drew’s attention, he again blamed the kitchen staff & brought a small bowl of cold marinara sauce. My husband ordered the Caesar salad & added cheddar cheese crumbles; there were no cheddar cheese crumbles & several pieces of his salad were brown & completely nasty. I had the Mediterranean bird which was brought out cold. The chicken was tough & cold & I could not even eat it. The side of mashed potatoes felt as if they were just removed from a refrigerator. My daughters ordered the salmon & their side of mixed vegetables were cold & sparse; they were given 1 piece of broccolini. There were so many issues w our dinner that there are too many to list. Drew seemed extremely preoccupied & acted as if our table was an inconvenience. We have been coming to Hilton Head for over 20yrs & this is absolutely the worst experience we have EVER had. I will discourage everyone I know from visiting. Our bill was $185.65 & we even had to ask him to remove the chicken that we were charged for ($2.25) in my sons pasta as we did not even order that. This is absolutely ridiculous for the quality of food we received & the service we were provided. I just wanted to make you aware of the situation & hopefully you will make some corrections within your kitchen & provide your staff w better training. Very...

The Salty Dog Cafe and the Wreck of the Salty Dog must have flipped locations. We have come to SDC (next to the parrots) every time we’ve been to HHI and have had amazing food and service. This visit was quite the opposite. We arrived at 6:30 and were very surprised we could be seated immediately. We sat down and looked at the menu and NONE of our favorites (Especially the she crab soup) were there. We asked our server about it, and he never mentioned that the location we were at was now WSD, and he just said “no, we don’t have that anymore. But our black bean soup is really good.” Once our appetizer was brought to our table, we had to ask for silverware, plates and napkins. The only thing brought to us was plastic silverware and damp napkins, no plates. Once our food came out, it was warm at best. Our server never came back nor asked if we wanted anything else. He merely dropped off our checks and told us to have a good night. The kids activities were not even going on tonight as the website stated they would be. For a fairly pricey meal, mediocre food, poor ambience, and a $8 pass to get back into Sea Pines, our family was so very disappointed!!! Unfortunately, it will be the last time we go to the Salty Dog...
