My daughter said mom new restaurant around the corner lets hit it up. She said i think its been reviewed so lets try it. We we walked in the patrons were of all ages & races. The front staff was very friendly and warm. Although they didnt have a lot of menu choices due to its sudden popularity and items were sold out for the day. We decided to try again later but we really wanted a steak so we decided to really taste the food and order 2 of everything left on the menu! The front staff told us since we out of chicken were gonna just double the beef! Thats an offer we couldnt pass! As we were waiting for our big order which only took about 20mins. Mr Dennis the owner came to speak to customers and ask how was their food and did they need ANYTHING ELSE! MR .Dennis was the personality of what we expected from a SOUTHERN MAN. Warm welcoming and just downright caring about what his customers thought! We havent had this type customer service NO WHERE i GEORGIA After 16yrs here! He makes this place feel like a home. The customers were laughing and talking to one another nice music was playing and i enjoyed being in that type atmosphere. Most restaurants dont care about us but they care about our money. The front staff had announced to mr .Dennis we order the entire menu. He thanked us so much and talked about his history with cooking and i must say his story is amazing and all for the love of eating and cooking!we live about 10mins away from the restaurant our steaks Were piping hot still and the fries was good even a little cold from our travel. The load fries dont make no sense they so good. The onion rings were seasoned and the BEST I EVER HAD. THE STEAK SAMMICHES WE HAD A TOTAL OF 8. ALL OF THEM WAS EQUALLY GOODT BUT THAT MEATBALL ONE made me drop in my kneees! I only do that for my own cooking and i dont even eat meatball subs! These phillies had bacon some had crispy onion some had pepperoni but the all had onions and peppers w cheese on the bottom to the Top and packed w meat! The best i ever had! Yep even better than publix! No sandwhich shop can outdo Mr. DENNIS shop. We going again tomorrow for nachos and wings! Then sunday for soul food. Oh they give veteran, medical and fire police discounts! No body ever INCLUDE US NURSES to discount anything but this lil hidden shop included me the hardworking nurse! I felt more than welcomed here. The prices were so reasonable for the huge amounts of food they serve. Food network worthy for sure! I cant wait to try more. I just wish a sign was on the street so we could find it easier. A banner on the road would make magic for us old lost and blind folks! See yall...
Read moreThis is going to be a difficult review because the food was good but the experience was odd, for lack of a better word.
I and a couple of buddy's had heard about the philly's here and although we don't live close (Cartersville) we decided to give it a shot.
The place is located in a small plaza with several non-food type shops at the same location. It's a small cafe type eatery where you order at the counter, which is great. Where it wasn't so great is the owner/manager is sitting at a table next to the register with his family (?) and eyeballs and listens to everyone that comes in; while this could be a good thing it turned out to be rather weird and kind of (not exactly sure how to say this)...stifling, uncomfortable, aggravating (?) because if you mentioned anything about the food or atmosphere or anything he would pipe up and talk over everyone to speak to whoever was talking. We are a group of 3 guys and not expecting this. It was definitely something that got us all defensive and immediately almost aggressive and wanting to tell him to stop talking to us, as he was literally talking over other customers.
The place was relatively clean but disorganized and cluttered.
The one and ONLY redeeming quality of this place is that the steak Philly was absolutely bada$$! It was upwards in price but for the size and quality it was well worth it to me. Just the right amount of meat bread, cheese, onions and peppers and all blended well and just the perfect amount of moisture to make it a great fresh Philly.
The fries were cold and bad but we didn't come for fries.
I hate to give this place less than 5 stars and yet I have to because a review is based on all factors. It has been a couple months since we came here and they're still open so I will definitely return and give them another chance...if nothing more than take-out if it seems the service/professionalism inside hasn't changed. Hopefully the manager/owner got some feedback and has adopted a different style.
Parking is limited but adequate.
Absolutely recommend the philly as a takeout, and will try the chicken...
Read moreAfter frequent trips, let me give the tea!! My biggest issue was coming to the restaurant and they are closed or food has run out! But that has changed, and now when food is sold out or they are closed they announce it on all platforms. In the future maybe they'll have a set up for a text message to go out for those who aren't on social media.
Pros: customer service is great, Mr. Dennis is usually ALWAYS there to greet you, or ask if you have any concerns, what can be done better, etc.! I love that! Typically, there is a short wait, but it's worth it. The sandwiches, chicken, and the jerk chicken, both are absolute favorites! The chicken to peppers and cheese ratio is just right! The bread, just right! The creativity inside shows authenticity and pride. & Yes, black owned family business!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cons: soooo, let me be honest! They have a wing flavor called junkyard, and omg it's so good! But you would never know bc they NEVER HAVE WINGS. They're on the menu though! Secondly, so there is a wait, no biggie, but it's hot af inside there! Like no AC hot, so it's best to wait in your car after placing your order. Lastly, on busy days, where there is extra items on the menu, we've experienced our fries being cooked in the same grease as other foods. & it is quite disgusting.
There is an online ordering option now that definitely saves some time. They're not accustom to answering the phones when they are really busy which is understanding. My pros still out...
