Capone's Italian Pizzeria is located in the Presidential Plaza along Hollywood Blvd. There were a couple of people dining at social distant tables and a few at the bar. Once I was greeted by a friendly female employee, I asked if I can dine in and was allowed to sit at an available table. I haven't had an alcoholic drink in 9 months. That ended tonight with a glass of white zinfandel wine. After overlooking the menu, I decided to have baked lasagna which comes with a house salad and a garlic roll.
Capone's offers a variety of dishes via dine-in, takeout, and delivery such as:
Soup/salads/appetizers/sides Pizza (build your own/specialty/slice) Calzone & stromboli Pastas & desserts Lunch specials Hot & cold beverages/wine/cocktails/beer Kids menu and much more
Here's my take on the food:
Zinfandel wine: was light and sweet in taste House salad: freshly prepared small serving of tomatoes, black olives, cucumbers, croutons, sliced onions, and shredded cheese on a bed of lettuce with creamy Italian dressing on the side Garlic roll: large soft roll covered in fresh garlic and parmesan cheese. Wasn't oily Baked lasagna: sauteed ground beef and ricotta cheese layered in between lasagna noodles in a zesty tomato sauce and covered in mozzarella cheese. Ate half of it to make room for dessert Apple tart: nicely baked apple tart with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream and caramel drizzle.
A delicious treat to end an enjoyable meal. There were only two females who took turns working behind the bar, handing out the pickup orders, and serving those who were dining in. They both were very pleasant and gave satisfactory customer service. They even greet their regular customers by their name. Things like that makes me want...

Not busy or crowed. First atmosphere give you the feel of a dim lit bar/restaurant. No complaints from me on that. We sat ourselves and the waitress came over and gave us the menu she was friendly. We ordered mozzarella sicks(they were better than we expected), garlic rolls(were great if you like a lot of fresh garlic these are a must have), and honey garlic chicken wings(epic fail). The honey was runny like water didn't stick to wings and the garlic just floated in the honey. The chicken looked boiled then baked soft. There was no seasoning at all and when I pulled them open they looked boiled and even tasted like they were boiled. Pizzas- cauliflower pizza was good mom enjoyed it. Build your own meats sausage and pepperoni was ok. Now the large veggie-if you eat it immediately it is ok. 5 mins later it is super soggy. Really disappointed. Stromboli-honey listen I LOVE A GOOD BOLI! I was so mad when I got home. If your looking for a boli filled with meat and cheese Do not Do not order this. I ordered the meats to go for my husband for dinner; when he ate it all I heard him say was where's the meat? So I tried some and then cut it open. When I say I wanted to drive all the way back to Hollywood from Parkland to get my money back...yes I was so upset. So know they get 2 stars because the mozzarella sticks, garlic rolls, and my ma's cauliflower pizza were good. No - I will not go back. I was willing to give it a second try but the NoBoli in my stromboli...
Read moreWe once loved this place. Became friendly with the staff, and sent friends in. All the "good customer" kind of stuff. We were rewarded with friendly, familiar service and our order was delivered to our table without even asking. Great treatment!
But we're still furious at Capones about the way we were treated one evening a few years ago. The service was always delightful historically, and we became accustomed to a Yelp check-in bonus of a glass of wine--it made us happy. But as the server delivered our check--after our last meal--we were advised, "We don't have any Yelp promotions in effect anymore. 'He' is experimenting with other promotions." It wasn't the server's fault. It is "new management's" fault.
After 3 years of loyal patronage (and happily written positive Yelp reviews), one would think management would have said, "You didn't know we dropped that promotion, so we'll comp the wine today."
We certainly hope the other promotions with which 'he' is experimenting work. Because Capone's has lost us as customers. He's lost our referrals, too. As my marketing professional colleagues and I know, it's 5 times more expensive to win a new customer than to keep a loyal customer.
And now we, as customers, have to be replaced.
Final note? I just checked in on Yelp and discovered there's now a 10% off Capone's promotion on Yelp for a check-in. That adds insult to injury.
The restaurant business isn't just about food. It's about hospitality. We've never received such a clear message: "You're not welcome...
