Food was decent. Not bad. Service is something to be desired. Tried being friendly as i told them my friend was a cook and asked if he was cooking that day and their response was that she wasnt going to comment or talk about the help... i mean... it wasnt as if i was asking personal questions. The guy is my friend.. so.. i was just making small talk and seeing if he was working and her response was just cold and illogical. I understand her having employer and employee confidentiality but.. her response was unnecessary and all that was needed to say was "oh cool, he is your friend? Not here today, what are you ordering hun?" Like ANY OTHER RESPECTED RESTAURANT. But ya know.. thats how it goes.
All in all, the food isnt bad, its better than the other previous owners but as i said.. their costomer communication skills and costomer servis skills are to be desired.
If you want a meal and you live in the holt area. Feel free to check it out but dont bother being friendly, id order your food to go.
But even though its decent... its mainly standard local diner food. Burgers, chicken strips and tenderloins and stuff.. nothing i would go out...

Small town cafes are often more miss than hit. However, Betty’s Place is a gem! We stopped for breakfast on our way from Kansas City to Iowa. The interior is bright and inviting. The breakfast menu has a traditional selection (eggs, omelette, biscuits & gravy, pancakes, French toast, and breakfast sandwiches).
Our server was friendly and ensures that we had everything we needed. My partner had a few special requests that she handled perfectly. She was so quick and kind! (I have found that speedy service is often lacking in small town cafes, so the excellent service was a fantastic surprise!)
My partner had eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and biscuits & gravy. Here is where I think many cafes fail: they use canned gravy that tastes manufactured. I would be very surprised if Betty’s is using canned gravy because their gravy was filled with large pieces of sausage and tasted home made!
I had a croissant breakfast sandwich: it was delicious!
This restaurant is about 40 minutes from my house, but I’d be willing to get up early on a weekend morning to make a special trip for...
Read moreI went to this establishment for breakfast on a Sunday morning. I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. The restaurant had very few people and most of them appeared to be the owner’s friends or family. I was there long enough to learn who Betty was, she is the cranky acting and surly looking woman with the scowl on her face. I waited for 1 full hour waiting for my food. At this point a couple sat down in the booth next to mine, one ordered the exact thing that I ordered and the other ordered pancakes. Within 5 minutes both of them received their food. I went to the counter and inquired about my order, and Betty(the surly cranky lady) said that it would be a while and that they hadn’t started my order yet. I politely told her to cancel my order and I walked out. Madam, you are an example of what is wrong with this country, if you are not going to run a restaurant properly please close your establishment permanently. You wasted over an hour of my time, unfortunately there are people in the world that do not have concern for others....
