I am sitting in Taco Mama in homewood as we speak. It might be just the Playa Margaritta talking, but so far I have had the best experience. Obviously I am not the only person who likes this place because as I sit here now, it is packed and getting busier! I am never generous with my 5 stars but this place gets it. I walked in and immediately was greeted by more than one smiling patron in a red t-shirt. One of them politely asked me if this was my first time there. It is. I have been to Taco Mama but not this location. He then proceeded to explain to me the process. "You may have a seat, check this menu out, and let us know what you like." You order and pay at the register and then they bring you food. I stood up and a lady, Amanda, who I think is a manager rushed over and asked if I need a to-go order. I told her I was eating here and she urgently rushed to the register and assisted me with my order, making great suggestions. I got my drink immediately. Shortly after I returned to my seat, my food was there. Shortly after I started eating, Amanda came up and asked me how everything was. She also checked on me when I was done to see if I needed anything else. Yes! Now, that's great customer service! For those establishments out there who think that my reviews have been tough on you, you will see it's nothing personal if you take some notes from Taco Mama in homewood, Birmingham, Alabama. It really doesn't take much to please a customer. Great service, great food, great drinks!...
Read moreWhile visiting my daughter at school in Birmingham (UAB PT) this past Friday night, she suggested Taco Mama. We've been to one last year. I just had chips and queso to-go and it wasn't this location. This time, we stayed and dined in at the Homewood location. So I tried something more than chips. I chose the steak quesadilla. I grill...like A LOT. So naturally, my taste buds were set for a well seasoned and flavored steak inside. Unfortunately, it didn't meet the mark. That's the ONLY downside to our experience.
The upside....after some thinking, I decided to go back and let them know my thoughts, preparing myself for even a little side-eye minor 'tude. None whatsoever. I wish I knew names...but the young ladies we SUPER kind and they both were at the POS taking the orders (one blonde, who took our order and one brunette, who was so understanding with my issue). Even further, to my surprise, the Manager, Kyle (I did remember his name lol), comes over and offers his apology along with some "incentive" for us to return. I ended up getting tacos which I DEFINITELY recommend. But even without the incentive to return, the customer service was exceptional...all the way to the gentleman who cleared our table. So, a very pleasant end to what I thought was gonna be much different. If you haven't gone, it's certainly worth the...
Read moreI went to this location on Sunday may 9th, I ordered my food and it came with slaw on it I ask the ting man taking my order to please make sure you remove the slaw i am extremely allergic to carrots. He said they had a different slaw that didn’t have carrots in it they could out on and I said okay. As I get to my second bite I see carrots at the bottom of the taco. I immediately when you there and said something and got a refund. I had to give myself a epi pen and go to the hospital because of this. I need restaurants to take allergies way more seriously. I went into anaphylactic shock. From two bites. What if I hadn’t noticed you tik after I finished it all. My mother contacted the store because she was pretty upset Herself that this was even done. Allergies are very serious and you never know how someone may react to it. Please please please be more precautious to the people who make it stated and clear that it can’t be with there food. This was a life threatening situation and I am not going to ever be returning to any of the restaurants. A simple apology does not make up for you being...
