This place is absolutely amazing!! We initially chose this eatery because we were traveling with our dog. And they have a nice patio and are dog friendly. By the super friendly service, the great food, and the decor were all very appreciated!! When we say at our table on their homey, beautifully decorated patio, wev were met with our server. She was very friendly and helpful. We were pleasantly surprised with baskets of homemade bread rolls brought out, and the taste was phenomenal!! They were so so good! Freshly baked to perfection!! We ordered some marinara with the bread too. I judge Italian eateries on their marinara sauce. And Pap's marinara might did not disappoint. It may be one of the best I've ever tasted. It was very rich and very flavorful!! Loved it!! We also tried the calamari, tastefully seasoned with a side of marinara! The cheese bread was equally delicious and perfectly baked!! It too went great with marinara sauce!! And the entrees. The lasagna was amazing, tasty, rich, great meaty flavor!! And it came out of the kitchen piping hot!!! The chicken marinara was delicious and perfectly cooked. (Yes, i have had chicken parm that was dry and tasteless before at other places). We had 17 ppl, including 7 kids under 5, and EVERYONE in our group left satisfied and happy. And it's all fairly reasonable!! 17 ppl and we averaged less than 17.00 pp! Plus ee had appetizers!! We travel through Hondo 2 or 3 times a year and this place is definitely going to be a tradition for us!! Yes, it's that good!! You will want to come back...

Enjoyed another wonderful dinner at our favorite Italian spot! Really glad we don't need to drive all the way to SA for real homemade Italian anymore! I can't understand one of the reviews I saw just really putting the food down...wow, she was either having a BAD day or at some other place! My husband & I have been coming here for months now, ever since the new management took over and love the food, never had anything wrong like that! Can't imagine why, if it was so bad, she didn't say something? These folks are the sweetest and I know they would have definitely made it right, if it was so bad. I always try to to settle it at the business before I have to make a bad review, but, to each his own, I guess. So, back to the positive, not only do we love it, so do, our friends out in the Devine & Moore area, who we have encouraged to come try it! The calamari is one of my husband's fav dishes, and he is really picky. I love the marinara sauce, one of the best around, I just had it tonight with my Chicken Catetori and was just a tasty as ever! I would encourage everyone to please come and try the food for yourselves, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. It's rare to find a quality Italian chef way out in our part of Texas, actually, pretty hard finding any Italian restaurants out here at all unless a pizza joint! We had to run to Hondo Tx this afternoon for a quick test for my favorite wife. On the way she commented that she was getting a little hungry. Great I thought not only can I get out of cooking this evening ... I can also count this as her Mothers Day meal!!!😉😂 So while she was in getting her test done I was searching local restaurants. I was trying to decide between Taco bell and McDonald's when I spotted Pap's Italian Grill 🤔 we decided to give them a try. What a great place!!!!🤗🤗🤗🤗 They have been here for a year and I hope for many years to come. It's a family owned business and I think this is our new favorite. I had the shrimp florentine and it was fantastic! The alfredo sauce was possibly the best I've ever had!! 😋 My wife had the kids cheese ravioli with marinara sauce. She said it was spectacular!!🤗😋 We also had a calamari appetizer that was fried with a wonderful salt and pepper batter and served with a maranara sauce that was wonderful. The freshly baked garlic knots were very good as was my dinner salad. This is a small town restaurant that will rival any other in South Texas and well worth the drive.
