Guava Smoked — Restaurant in Honolulu

First off, the food was pretty good. Exactly what I expected or better. However, my friend shattered her fork trying to cut open the chicken. I mean full on ESSSSPLOSION. It was a miniature Big Bang in fork form. The likes of flying plastic was reminiscent of grenade shrapnel, flying towards me with the carefree attitude of "you're done, son". Though it is all her fault for not just using her hands like a normal person. The Guava Bars were a nice treat which I enjoyed thoroughly. From the outside looking in you'd expect a dirty "hole in the wall" spot but it is clean, neat, spacious and I appreciated that. The lady taking my order was courteous and explained the menu very well. The menu is posted in large print with pictures on the wall which helped me decide quickly. I was skeptical about the locomoco because it's a pork patty with a white gravy but brah, get it with fried rice (if they don't run out), and throw in some kalbi on the side and a side salad with their creamy vinaigrette dressing and you just broke your mouth.

The Marlin dip (or Marlin poke) if they have it is super good. If they have the Marlin poke just munch on em. If they have the Marlin dip go get some crackers or baguettes or something.

There's four parking spots right in front. If those 4 are full you can park across the street, go up the driveway and to the left and there's parking there. Update- 2025 they still going and I ordered frozen smoked pork. 5lb pack was $55 which I thought was very good value.

Small place with great smoked food! There are only 4 parking stalls in front of the store but directly across the street at Young's Meat Market there are a few more stalls with signs.

I got smoked duck, kalbi, boneless chicken, spicy pork as well as butterfish and smoked meat fried rice.

Everything was good to great with the exception of the fried rice which I thought was just ok.

Also tried the guava bars which were pretty good, especially texture wise. I liked that it wasn't overly sweet but wish the guava flavor stood out a bit more.

The help was fast and friendly and had my order ready to go...literally they were placing it on the counter when I walked in.
