Personally, I really love Lion Cafe and General Store. If you work in Kalihi, you KNOW there's a shortage of caffeine sources, so Lion's is perfect! There's a ton of parking, whether it be in their space or on the street, and there's a lot of room, so most people who stop in are able to get a seat. I just love the vibe of this place. The cute and somewhat rustic warehouse vibe that it has, and the lingering smell of coffee. It's fun too because they do tours, though I've never been on one, I'd like to someday! You see tourists and locals here, which just enhances the Hawaii vibe that this place has. I also enjoy the drinks I've had, and I've had a few! Sometimes we do a group order here at my workplace, and it's fun to see the different drinks everyone gets. Matcha lattes, Americanos, Caramel Macchiatos.. Yum! I love their specialty drinks that occur each day of the week, so check those out for sure! I'm excited to take my friends here when they get back to the islands....
Read moreI have been a fan of Lion Coffee for years. Every time I visit Honolulu I load up. This time we got a chance to go on the factory tour. Turned out there were the only the two of us so we had a private tour. The guide was very informative. We learned about the history of Lion Coffee and the process from start to finish. The smell of coffee in the factory was intoxicating!
Parking - They have covered parking in what looks like the warehouse of a gazillion coffee machines. Very interesting.
The coffee is not cheap but it was worth it, especially the 100% Kona. We got a 10% off coupon for being tour participant, but at the cashier there was some confusion as to what was covered by the coupon. We ended up paying full price for most. Not a huge deal but would help if the terms were clearly printed on...

It is a really neat setup with all the roasting equipment right there in the warehouse. They even had free grounds available in the parking area in a wheelbarrow.
Didn't get to take the tour as we were heading to the airport, but spent some time in the cafe and really enjoyed it. Great stop for gifts and good coffee. You can sample almost all of the coffee before you decide which one to get a big cup with.
The light-medium roasts were my favorite. They also have nitro cold brew, but it wasn't my...
