Please do not order the wasabi poke bowl unless you can handle massive amounts of wasabi. The poke was served cold and really fresh. Rice is delicious. Flavor and freshness were excellent. The bowl comes with some greens and masago. I wish it had more masago, especially since they charge 13$ per bowl. Every single bite contained a massive amount of wasabi. I love sushi, with lots of wasabi. This poke bowl however, was literally so painful. I usually can eat really spicy food and tons of wasabi with my sashimi. The flavor was great, but I wish I had ordered a non-wasabi bowl. I was coughing and tearing up. I had to remember to inhale through my nose and exhale out my mouth, LOL!!! That wasabi vapor is torture!!! I wonder if they normally put this amount of wasabi in there wasabi bowls or if this was a mistake. I would go back there but I would make sure not to order the wasabi bowl. This is coming from an Asian person that eats lots of sushi and wasabi. I frequent a place called Yanagi Sushi restaurant, and consume lots of sashimi, with lots of wasabi. I suggest the owners put a warning...
Read moreI recently rediscovered Sushiya on Waialae Avenue and it's quickly become my go-to sushi spot in the neighborhood.
This family-run gem exudes warmth and hospitality, making each visit a delightful experience. What I love about Sushiya is how convenient it is. There's always easy parking right out front, perfect for those days when I'm in a rush and need a quick grab-and-go option. It's also ideally located for a stop on the way home.
Their menu has a great mix of classics and their own special twist on local favorites. My favorites so far are the Crunchy Spicy Ahi Bowl and the Spicy Dynamite Maki - both are packed with flavor and the portions are super generous.
Plus, they're currently running a fantastic promotion – $10 off on orders over $40 with an American Savings Bank debit card, which is pretty much a whole free roll every time you visit.
If you're looking for a friendly, convenient neighborhood sushi shop with amazing food, Sushiya is the place to go. Can't wait for...
Read moreI had been coming to Sushiya for years before the pandemic. I remember coming to this restaurant as an everyday patron. I've finally come back after some time and got to meet the new owners. They have renovated the place to look very cute and welcoming! The food is just as delicious as I remember and with great display. A great way to spoil yourself for a date. The "crunchy veggie don" is now the "crunchy spicy ahi don," which is a must try and unique version of a pokebowl, which includes sushi rice, vegetable tempura, and spicy ahi. Their sauce is very good, which soaks into the rice for a delicious combination! I was able to get $10 off for spending $40 with an American Savings Bank Debit card, too, so I splurged and got the dynamite maki, too. I liked it even more! Crunchy shrimp tempura with the fresh crunch of the cucumber was a heavenly balance with the spicy ahi on top. Thanks again, Sushiya!! Good luck with your small business!♡ See...
