🍻 Big Whiskey’s Review – Hoover, AL 🍻 Tonight, we hit up Big Whiskey’s in Hoover, and let’s just say—this place delivers on bold flavors, killer drinks, and a vibe that blends Southern charm with a lively New Orleans edge. From the moment we walked in, we were surrounded by rich oak barrels, colorful beads draped around the space, and an atmosphere that made you want to kick back and stay awhile. 🥨 Starters That Hit the Spot: We kicked things off with fried pickles—thin, crispy, golden strips of tangy goodness, fried to perfection. The crunch? Unreal. We also grabbed a warm, soft pretzel paired with creamy, velvety beer cheese—the kind of rich, savory dip that makes you want to lick the bowl clean. 🍔🍝 Main Event – Flavor Explosion: 🔥 The Honey Burger – A masterpiece of sweet heat! Juicy, flame-grilled beef topped with spicy honey sauce, smooth cream cheese, and crispy fried jalapeños—every bite was an addicting mix of sweet, creamy, and crunchy with just the right amount of kick. 🍗 Penne Pasta with Chicken – Grim went for the pasta, and it did not disappoint. Tender, grilled chicken over perfectly cooked penne, tossed in a flavorful, creamy sauce with diced tomatoes for that fresh burst of flavor. Comfort food with a touch of elegance. 🍗🍟 Chicken Fingers & Fries – Carrie kept it classic, and Big Whiskey’s delivered. Crispy, golden-fried tenders with that perfect crunch, served alongside seasoned fries that were hot, crispy, and impossible to stop eating. 🍹 Drinks That Pack a Punch: Of course, we had to sample the cocktails—and they were amazing. Perfectly balanced, strong but smooth, and crafted with just the right amount of flair. They even serve massive fishbowl drinks for those looking to sip on something shareable and wild. If you’re in Hoover and looking for big flavors, strong drinks, and a killer atmosphere with an American-meets-New-Orleans feel, Big Whiskey’s is absolutely worth the visit. Highly recommend! 🍻🔥

We visited Big Whiskey’s last night with a party of 12. This location doesn’t accept reservations but will seat your group once the majority arrives. Fortunately, it wasn’t busy on a Thursday evening, so we were seated immediately. One thing to note: an 18% gratuity is automatically applied to parties of six or more. Appetizers: We started with the Southwest Egg Rolls, Triple Dip, and Buffalo Chicken Wontons. • Southwest Egg Rolls: Decent, but nothing exceptional. The beans, chicken, and corn gave it a “Southwest” vibe, but it fell short in flavor. • Triple Dip: Delicious! Both the queso and buffalo chicken dips were flavorful and highly enjoyable. • Buffalo Chicken Wontons: The standout starter! The crispy wontons combined with the tanginess of blue cheese created a burst of flavor. Highly recommended. Entrees: Our table ordered a variety of dishes, including the Turkey Club, BBQ Bacon Burger, Po’ Boy Sandwich, Chicken Alfredo, Chicken Tenders, Pork Chops, and the Southwest Chicken Salad. Everyone seemed pleased with their meals, and there were no complaints about the food. Service: The service, unfortunately, was disappointing. After taking our orders and delivering the food, our server was hard to track down. She spent extended periods socializing at another table, which made it difficult for us to get any assistance. This lack of attentiveness was frustrating and detracted from an otherwise positive dining experience. Overall: The food was great, and the atmosphere was enjoyable. However, the poor service left a sour note, and I suspect the automatic 18% gratuity may have contributed to the server’s lack of effort. If the management improves service quality, this could be an excellent spot for group dining.

Wait was 2.5hrs then we got seated and our server took awhile to get there which it was packed so I understood the wait. So due to the wait we began ordering drinks apps and our main right away all at once. 3 more couples got seated around us with a different server and also began placing their orders. This is when things started getting fun. One more group was seated next to us and also placed their orders. We got our drinks after this group was seated and at this point we have been there 45 minutes. No apps just drinks. 1 hour passes and still nothing. After 30 more minutes our server came out and said the food was at the window waiting to come out. At this point everyone around us has eaten their apps and main courses and are ready to pay and go home. So I decided to call our waitor and ask to pack the food up that's at the window and allow us to pay and leave. He brought the check right away and then we waited again. 20minutes passes after this and still nothing has come out so I decided to go get the car which was parked a good distance away and come back to my wife and daughter ready to go. When I came back inside big whiskey they were still sitting and waiting and at this point I began to get upset because we still haven't gotten anything but I paid for the food and they gladly charged my card. It took .e getting really upset and going to aanager for them to bring out my order and after this it was incorrect. My luck huh. Don't think I'll be returning here and sadly our first time was a great experience hence why we went back. I Paid $80 for the wrong food sigh I guess that was my fault for being so upset and leaving before checking my order that sat in the window for 30minutes.

We went on a Saturday night after 8 pm and it was busy. It was graduation season and parties celebrating birthdays. There is plenty of waiting area, and we were seated within the 15 minutes we were quoted. The manager/assistant manager TC greeted us after we were seated and assisted with taking our dribk and appetizer orders to help the assigned server. The drinks were served right away, and the loaded fries came out shortly. Our server Michael brought over saucers and additional napkins but forgot the silverware. I caught his attention while he he was leaving another table to remind him about the silverware (he sat the saucers & napkins down fast and had walked away). He came back with plastic wear, explaining they were out of silverware in the front and rolling more in the back, and that was the best he could do if we wanted some right now. Given the ranch, cheese, and bits of chicken & bacon on the fries, silverware was necessary. Unfortunately, by this time, the cheese began to harden some and took away from the experience. So we didn't each much of the dish. Luckily, our burgers came out soon. My friend's entree had a knife in the burger, so we were able to share that to cut our burgers. She had the American, and I had the BBQ with the onion straws in the side. The food was all served timely even with the large crowds. It was a fun atmosphere, and the initial service by TC was good. Our actual server was just okay. Even after the crowds started to dissipate, he still wasn't attentive, and we never got real silverware.

So we waited only 20 minutes before getting a table. Cool, we get seated and place our orders and the food takes an hour to come out...still cool...AB was our server....she brought the food out but forgot the appetizer as well as silverware, I had to go ask for it..well we have our meal now so forget the app...ok I'm still cool...the food was pretty good, they can keep the slaw...didn't care for it. She takes forever to check on us..so when she does I'm like bring the check, a to go water, and a pecan pie to go....waiting, waiting, waiting...another employee brings my water, a to go box and the ticket....no pie, no AB... waiting, waiting, waiting...I get up, find a manager and give him my ticket and money .. telling him I still want my pie...waiting....I get up and meet him bringing the pie and my change which is incorrect and AB act like she got a tude cause she can't subtract...she shorted me 5 bucks.. she gave it to me, no apology for any of it....I told the manager the food was good but the service sucks...no apology from him either...I get to the car with my pie and the ice cream it comes with and the pie is ice cold and I can't even get the fork through it...I doubt if I'll come back here again...oh we drove 45mins to eat here...wasted time and money tbh

First time dining here. It was an "ok" experience. Service was great. Atmosphere decent. The atmosphere was casual. Restaurant very clean. But food wasn't anything to brag about overall. For an appetizer we had the SW eggrolls. This was the best part of the meal. I would definitely order the egg rolls again. They were served with a spicy ranch sauce. For dinner I had garlic parmesean wings (6 for around $13). The sauce was very garlicky and oily. Actual parmesean cheese was sprinkled on the chicken, no other seasoning was in the sauce. I ordered a side of broccoli and cheese. My boyfriend ordered a ribeye with fries. Update: December 2023 I DO NOT RECOMMEND COMING HERE! We ordered bar drinks that were not good (basic margarita) and a shot. We kept the shot but simply told the manager that we didn't like the margarita. The manager informed us that this company policy is that bar drinks are final. Our appetizer (egg rolls) did not come. After all of the issues we had tonight we wound up canceling our order. We will not return. This time service was sub standard instead of the food.
