My friends and I went here after church yesterday and had a terrible experience. From the moment we walked in something was off. First, the host didn't even greet us and immediately asked how many people we had. She then had an attitude when we asked her if we could combine tables with our friends who got there before us. After we were seated, our server Roxy, took our drink orders and did not come back to take our orders for quite a while. We noticed her taking orders from her other tables that had arrived after us. We had to flag her down the entire time we were there because she never came to check on us. Two of my friends were in the restroom when she took our orders and she didn't ask them if they were ready to order once they came back. We didn't only have issues with the service but with the food as well. When the food started coming out we noticed that the fajitas weren't steaming like they should be, but other tables fajitas were as if our food was just sitting there and not fresh. I had ordered nachos and at first glance my food looked very dry. I took a bite of it and realized my food was cold and asked my friends to try to make sure I'm not trippin, and they agreed with me. It took forever for her to walk past again to flag her down so we told another employee who was walking by of the problem, he had an attitude when we stopped him and said to wait for our server. When she finally walked by I let her know of the issue and she said she would bring me a new plate. She brought my food back out in less than five minutes and I noticed the placement of the toppings looked very similar to my first plate, and chips were missing in the same places as well. While inspecting my food I noticed the lettuce looked weird so I ate a pinch of it and it was warm. She put my food in the microwave instead of bringing me a new batch and thought I wouldn't notice?! Who would think of such a duplicitous act? Absolute madness. I flagged her down again and I told her that I could tell that this was the same plate with warm lettuce as if it was microwaved. Her face turned red and she apologized saying she would bring me a new plate and walked away from me before I even finished talking so my friend and I had to yell to let her know that I didn't want another plate. Other issues we had included not having our drinks refilled consistently as well as the food having no flavor at all so my friends had to keep adding salt. Overall the service was very lazy and careless, and if I could give this review zero stars I would. This was my first and last time coming here and one of the worst experiences I've had in...
Read moreReally prompt service from the moment we walked inside, we were greeted and seated in about 2 seconds...keep in mind this was a Sunday afternoon and church was letting out...we knew it would be crowded soon and we were right. My rating system for restaurants always starts with how good their sweet tea happens to be and I give this one 5 stars! 《☆We all know this is the most important part of the meal right? Lol! 😆☆》Ok, so the tea is great, they did not ask if we wanted lemon with it and we did not ask at first, but it is the perfect amount of sweet for adding lemon. We did ask for a few slices after ordering our meals and he brought one for each of us on a little saucer. The salsa was not too hot, pretty tame, child mild, but it is very flavorful and fresh tasting....however, I'm one of those people that does not like cilantro and I could taste the slightest amount. It did not ruin the salsa for me, so it is made to please lots of different palates. The cheese dip is great and arrived very hot. It did not last long bc we pretty much devoured it as soon as it arrived at the table. Prices are very reasonable and the menu has lots to offer, there was just a small number of lunch specials and they offer them even on Sundays. Every person we encountered here was very friendly, smiling, and eager to help. Never waited for anything at all, even the food arrived within minutes. My aunt says the grilled chicken taco salad is a must try and I liked the cheese enchilada, but forgot to tell them to put it on a flour tortilla instead of corn...my fault and I ate it. Not bad, I am just not a fan of corn tortillas for some reason. They have a mild brown enchilada sauce here and it goes well with the delicious, super yummy melted cheese inside the enchilada. No complaints from me. This location was clean, very comfortable, parking is easy to find and convenient. Definitely will come back when I am on this side...
Read moreThe ideal restaurant for those who are looking to spend $75 on two scorched fajita platters and a pair of well margaritas.
For $75, one might expect to have decent food. Think again. Frontera fajitas arrived so blackened and tasteless that it took a full 7 minutes before they stropped visibly smoking. The stewed antelope cartilage passed off as 'beef' and 'chicken' were disappointing, but the margaritas were even worse - despite ordering Top Shelf, we received a goblet of sour mix and triple sec that tasted like stagnant wine coolers mixed with week-old dishwasher soap, which we were charged for even after sending them back near-full.
While the quality of the cuisine was exceptionally disappointing, the Service was far worse. When we questioned our bill with the General Manager ($75 for 2 fajitas, cheese dip, kids quesadilla, and 2 margaritas that we sent back!) she was so rude that she could barely restrain her contempt behind the fierce calculator tapping and angry glaring, only speaking to us to confirm that we ordered everything on the bill. Not once did she apologize for the poor quality of the food or beverages, nor did she thank us when we left an unwarranted and overly-generous $10 tip (or say anything at all, for that matter).
If you are looking for good Mexican food anywhere in Hoover, try Iguana Grill, Pablo's, Margarita Grill, Amigos, or literally anywhere else - Frontera fails at everything; overpriced, abysmal quality, and rampant, unrepentant, and...
