Taco Mama - Trace Crossings — Restaurant in Hoover

We just left here and had them remake our food twice for being cold. Then some guy who was working the floor said the toppings being cold made my chicken and cheese cold lol. Oh yeah it had just hit the table to for the second time and I immediately went in for some chicken to see and sure enough it was worse than room temperature. I ordered shredded chicken nachos and my girl ordered steak nachos. We will never be back there. We are from Huntsville and just happen to be in this part of Alabama today. Had the urge for Mexican food both of us very hungry. Neither one of us got more than four or five bites down and our appetite is completely gone, we are no longer hungry and we know to not come to taco mama here ever again. Sorry for this bad talk about your place but get some new food preps and cooks and your restaurant will come alive because the atmosphere, service and staff were great, other than the cooks who prepared the food. I am not an expert of Mexican food. I have no idea what is difference between taco and borito. My son recommended me to go to this place. He said food was good. So my husband and I decided to try it but we were going to meet up there. I arrived first and grabbed the menu. The guy who works there walked up to me and asked If I needed help. I looked lost with this stuff. That impressed me already. I asked question and he answered. He told me I could sit and wait for my husband even though I was not ready to order. Once he arrived, we ordered create your own. I chose soft taco with shrimp, pickled jalapeños, lettuce, Sriracha slaw, hot sauce (forgot the name) and side of street corn. Food is really GOOD. A few days after, I went back to get the same thing again but with different side, rice with cilantro lime. It was really good. This time, it is a different guy who works there walked toward my table to check if I need anything or everything is okay. When finishing my food, I grabbed my empty tray walking toward the trash. The boy who works there he offered his help and grabbed it me. I have to say hospitality is awesome!! Service is great!! Food is fabulous!! Ambiance is wonderful!! Definitely will go...

Decided to stop by here today for lunch and have to say that I was very underwhelmed. I order their Justice is Served, and The Sizzler, which are two styles of taco. They have a basket deal which comes with chips salsa and a choice of side. I ended up paying roughly $20 for three tacos, that came with chips, salsa, and queso. I consider it to be a bit on the dear side, but what you're paying for here is higher quality ingredients, not higher quality food.

The Justice is served I ordered with grilled flounder that came slightly undercooked and very lacking in flavor. The Sizzler comes with Grilled steak tenderloin, grilled onions, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, red chile butter sauce, queso fresco all of which don't quite hit the mark. The steak also being slightly overcooked, lacking just as much flavor as the flounder, and fighting against the paired ingredients.

Overall Taco Mama failed to impress me. The restaurant itself was great with very friendly staff. I'm sorry to say though, the next time I'm in town and in the mood for tacos, I don't see Taco Mama...
